Fawk I just LOL’d waay to loud for the sleeping members of the house, love this place!

It’s hard for me to keep from spilling my guts for the sake of continued conversation in this chat-room.

So this is probably my personal favorite LC color combo. The paint on Bucky is probably the closest they came on an FJ55. There’s a grayer version of beige on FJ40’s that was never offered on a 55 (that I can recall). That’s what I’m looking to do.
Some have come close to doing what I have in mind, but never completely nailed it, so...

I don't know about you, but picking colors was the hardest part of building mine. I like all the shades you picked, but I don't like the bright whites. She's going look great no matter what colors you choose.

That's why they make different colors......... for different opinions. Learned that many years ago in construction when the homeowner would pick an unsuspecting color, tell them "it's your house", nod your head showing approval and move on.

So one of the whites will be the roof color. The rest will be solid except for some black and/or white accents like door handles, bumpers, sliders, grille, wheels, etc...
The predominant black is gonna be their graphite black, as opposed to a darker semi-gloss.
Possibly thinking of... nah, never mind

Father did that for 30 years, mixed custom colors and samples for his customers! They were #1 and he did all the prep and finish to the "T" . While still being Full-time Firefighter and raising 8 kids 😳🤔😉. No pressure 🦬💩.

For me the body color roof with the contrasting color sandwiched between the two makes the 55 unique amongst all other Land Cruisers (the few monochromatic examples aside). Obviously just my 2 cents but I would want to keep that pattern regardless of the colors. Now having said that, I’m sure it will look great regardless.

I know, I know. When it comes to 55’s it’s like, 2 tone or go home. And it’s definitely never too late to change my mind.
When my roof faded all the way down to bare metal (way before patina was a thing), I rattle-canned it white to help try to keep cab temps down. Living in AZ, every little bit helps. It worked and stuck. White roofs are an all around Toyota thing, with 40’s having that and FJ Cruisers, as opposed to newer Jeeps with black roofs. Kind of a tough, utilitarian, function over form look.
I’m gonna have to at least try it to satisfy the craving to see how it looks. If it absolutely doesn’t work, then I’ll change it.

Going to incorporate this too, where the B-pillars and window frames are painted black with tinted windows. That will be one detail to help break up the monotony of a single tone. No stripes (Bob) just B-pillar and window frames. That’s it. That’s all this pic is for.
