So did this truck even make it back? Every report said something else broke along the way.

And last I heard it was being towed to FL?

Yeah, it rolled in on the transport this morning.
It’s a long story, I want to write everything up in detail. In short though I had a transmission failure on my home on I-40 30 miles before the New Mexico border (in Arizona) on Wednesday and decided to ship the truck home from there.

I think the final carnage list for the whole trip:
Broken shock mount
Broken transmission crossmember
Broken motor mount
Shattered bellhousing
Rear diff crosspin twice
(Second cross pin also resulted in broken R&P, locker and put the hole in the housing)
Transmission locked in 2nd gear

Everything got fixed on the trail besides the transmission.

Oh well, like they say s*** happens but look at how fun it was along the way!

Yeah man, I had a absolute blast. The only issue on the trip that cost me any trail time was the bellhousing and I only lost one day from that. I'm not even really that upset about having to tow it the last leg home. I have even kinda been wanting for this transmission to have another issue so I could finally get rid of it for good.

I'm still curious how one shatters a bell housing....

So it’s wasn’t all at once. From the campsite analysis it looks like it’s been cracked in one spot for a long time based on the grime. Monday or Tuesday of SAS I noticed some bolts missing, I think they rattled out with the rocky Colorado trails I was running at 30-35mph. This allowed the bellhousing to flex and crack more. Wednesday on the “Wall” on Poughkeepsie trail I went full send and basically jumped the truck up the obstacle which finished it off.

Lesson from Tropic Thunder applies here, "never go full send."

Glad you made it home, good to finally meet you! Found a few of you in the phone
