Great shots! I’m sure you guys were laughing your asses off the whole time. Awesome day!
Such a different terrain down there. It’s neat to see the differences region to region.

Looking at this picture I'm not sure that I'm getting as much down travel out of my rear suspension as I should be. I think the rear shocks re too short and hanging up (they;re only about 10-11" travel shocks, F350 rear shocks). I think I need some 12's and have them mounted more vertically. I should have unbolted one of the lower mounts and tried again to see if it was improved.

@workingdog since you're having issues and you're looking to change stuff. I drove two hours on the highway each way today at 80mph (even pouring rain on the way there). One finger on the wheel. Zero wander, great steering feel, smooth ride, and minimal body roll. Possibly better then when it was SUA. I don't even have good shocks on this truck. Get some longer springs on your rig.

All my body roll issues that I want to fix with a sway bar are from lower speed around-town driving (like hitting a bump while making a sharp turn).

Okay- good to hear

Have you flexed it out without shocks to see if their is a difference in flex?

No I haven't, I didn't even really cycle the rear to measure for shocks when I built it. I just kinda guessed, I didn't feel like breaking down those heavy 3/4 ton springs to just the main leaf. I took my time and cycled the front though.

Guess it just depends on how much time u have to spend dialing it in. Looks like it works pretty decent as is. LS motors can develop some oil pressure issues that are fairly common and documented. Some of the remedies are pretty simple and cheap.

I'm thrilled with how it works as it is, I just think i can fine tune it to be even better. The rear shocks do not do a good job at damping currently so they're getting replaced regardless. I put rear airbags in and pump them up about half way which helps body roll but messing with the damping. So upgraded longer rear shocks and a front sway bar and I think I'll really be in business.

Please tell me it’s not you who didn’t close his hood all the way and it flipped on you.

Worse then not closed all the way.. I didn’t have the latch installed at all. Whoops. New hood ready to go but I’m really bummed about the cowl. It’s fixable just not something I felt like dealing with right now

Yeah I didnt post it here yet. Joe must have seen it on Facebook.
My hood release cable was acting up recently so I ordered a new one, it won’t be here for another few days so I removed the latch so I could open the hood myself, I forgot to keep it at low speeds

The silver lining on this is that the paint has been peeling off my hood and looking horrible for awhile and this forces me to have a fresh hood. I don’t mind dents, scratches or rust but mismatched color panels is where I draw the line.
Off to go find a suitable red spray paint.
Also, sneak peak of my new project in the background.

I used automotivetouchup(dot)com

Good stuff if you don’t mind waiting for shipping, etc.

I don’t want to wait, and either way my truck isn’t factory color plus it’s super faded so no way I’d get a good match.
I spent a few hours this morning sanding, priming, wet sanding, priming, wet sanding, and fixing a tiny rust spot on the new hood. I think I enjoy this a lot more then I did when I was 15. I think I have a lot more patience now. It was coming along really nicely actually and then i sprayed it with $2.50 a can paint from the hardware store and it laid down terrible. Maybe it will look better when it’s dry. I’m not super concerned because one day I’ll tear the whole truck down for paint/body. I just need to stop pinballing it off rocks and trees.

How about some fun news? Got my AC hoses made up which were the last parts of the puzzle for my AC system. Hopefully I’ll get them (and the new hood) installed tomorrow and the AC system charged on Monday. I have been driving the truck every day and it’s pretty hot down here in Hell (Florida).
Thanks @FJ60Cam Mosley Motors for the weird M14 hose end.

Hood looks pretty good considering its from a $2.50 can of paint. I bet it will even out, then give it some wet sand action. Just one can of color needed? I've got some paint leftover... maybe 1.5 cans, need to do my fender and hood. And yes quit hitting rocks and trees! LOL
