Axle back under truck, finally got the left-hand tube inserts that were on backorder so I was able to install my deadly dangerous illegal kitten-killing steering too.
Got the 80 series steering box installed with -6 adapters installed as well.
I was able to get the drivers side shock tower tacked in as well.
I cut some 1/4” rubber vacuum hose as edge trimming around the cut in the inner fender. We’ll see how long it stays.

Nice work on carving the wheel well. Looks factory Matt :)

Dude.... glad I didn’t have sh!t to do today for the last few hours at work cuz I couldn’t stop reading your thread it’s like crack but better... started as just some research on a NV4500 in a 60 but man it’s so impressive what you’ve done, reading though I got some priorities in line now it’s time to start getting after my 60.

Looking forward to seeing this truck someday if your still on the east coast for the next year or two and come up to GSMTR again. Awesome build!

Thanks for the kind words guys. And let me know if you have any NV4500 questions. As you can see by reading the thread I've unfortunately become a bit of an expert on them

No problem man, and for now I’m putting a parts list together and will collect slowly looks like since the last time I considered a H55F price has gone up significantly so the NV4500 depending on price I get one for and regular might be the better option. Also trying I figure out engine that will replace the 2f when I likely blow it up lol

I put together a separate thread with all the parts needed to bolt an NV to a Cruiser motor. I'll see if I dig the link up, I'll PM you.

I have it saved in my favorites :D
But Sweet man I’ll have some other questions and BS with you there.

More over the top Matt creations.. my solution to the NLA FJ62 AC line grommet, as well as covering the hole left by the original EVU harness. I took inspiration from the Restomod AC bulkheads for this one. I think I will re-do this eventually with true bulkhead fittings, the grommets are too hard to get in and out and don’t provide a satisfactory isolation.

And a PCM mount. It hinges on the M8 bolt. And yes, I beadrolled the top of it :smokin:

You can see it mounted in the second picture. You can also see I have the wire harness on the motor, it’s all plugged in minus the O2 sensors and MAF (just need to buy a MAF sensor). Next up, exhaust.

Plugging away at it.

Brake lines, done. Besides the front axle/frame soft line, getting a new one made tomorrow along with a having my clutch line shortened.
I ended up using the lines I originally had made for my frame/axle for my front calipers.
Today I made the main frame line (8 feet long!) and
I also made yet another modification. Moved this to the outside of the frame to keep it away from the header, the firewall lines are still there but they’ll get a heat shield. I probably could have just ran the soft line straight into that Tee but whatever.

I also made a bracket for my clutch slave. I had to shorten up the pushrod. Hopefully the FJ60 master/slave combo works with the Chevy clutch. Research indicates it will but will be just barely enough throw to disengage it. The Toyota and Chevy clutch dimensions are super similar so I have a good feeling about it. We’ll see how it goes.

Another distraction from engine swap. Subaru WRX seat swap. Not a project for beginner fabricators. Pretty tricky. They are super comfy and have nice bolsters which I really want for off camber wheeling. I still need to do the passenger side.
I really wanted the 98-01 versions which are easier to find in matching grey and easier to swap but these were super cheap and the black/blue is tolerable. It’s not like my interior is stock with all the shifters, switches, console etc anyways.

I also need to cut a new shifter hole and close off the old one since the transmission moved forwards.

Those seats are stupid comfy. I remember riding in my friends 02 wrx in high school. Keep up the good work.

Also, do you not own a vacuum?!

I’ve got a couple, they all suck though. (Get it?)
Truck is a mess from having tons of parts stored in it and two wheeling weekends before I took it apart.

Got the PS reservoir put it last night and started determining what fittings I’ll need for all the return lines. This corner is starting to get crowded...
This pile of parts makes me very happy though

Shifter hole moved forwards (transmission moved 2-3” forwards with swap).
Tomorrow is cutting out a nice plate to cover the area and give me a place to mount shift boot and fire extinguisher too. Maybe room for ham radio faceplate mount as well.

Pretty happy with how this turned out, especially with only a few hours invested and not pulling the carpet or welding inside the truck.
I put the FJ60 shift boot back in. It’s a lot better then the cheap leather one I ran with for past two years.

Mom is still upset that I “ruined” “her” Land Cruiser
