Sticking to my plan. Wanted to hit the doors with Epoxy but I'm running out of daylight. Don't want to risk bugs this time of day. Will shoot it in the AM and then primer surfacer after lunch. Block it tomorrow night and base/clear on Friday. This is just the inside of the doors. Will work on the mechanicals for a few weeks and shoot the outside of the doors after the inside sets up. Have most of the bodywork/sanding done on the outside so I'll get to the paint process pretty quick. Ever since we got the new motor in that's all I can think about. Painting is usually my favorite thing but not now. Glad the doors are the last of it. Oh...and I had a bit of an issue with the t-case leaking. Had some great input from the experts on a separate thread. Some gray epoxy and a lower mileage (75k) flange and I hope I've solved the problem. And the pretty Coral snake decided it wanted to hang outside the shop :). Don't see too many of these. 2nd one in 11 years (thankfully).

Whoa! Did you kill the snake? Damn, I was pretty nervous walking out to the boneyard the other week. I'm just waiting for the day I step on one of those guys.

Also curious about the gray RTV fix.

Gorgeous snake!!! Bummer those are the super venomous ones.

Looking good Jim
Thanks Ryan. Looking forward to the day I get to enjoy this truck as you can understand. In fact, I was thinking about your build the other day. I decided that I'm going to swap out my evaporator since I have the dash out. I've had a brand new one on the shelf so it makes sense to do it at this point. Since you've been into the internals of the plenum, is there a kit I can buy to reseal everything or did you reuse the original stuff? Or is it a case of sourcing parts individually?

Clear is about done. These two were first. Since I don't have a paint booth I try not to paint (clear coat only) too many pieces at once as the plume of clear dust will settle on a piece where the paint has flashed. So I'll let the paint set up for a few weeks then flip them over and do the other side. Can do this with the doors as they have a break (door gasket) all they way around. Will hide where the two paint jobs come together. Reason for this is being a novice (prefer hobbyist) painter, I can lay the clear much better on a flat surface :). Now I can get back on the mechanicals of the cruiser.

That sounds like a lot of technical terms !!!! (plenum) I think you are talking about all of the flapper doors that direct the air. If so, I went to a local foam and upholstery shop and got some stuff that was close to the same thickness and cut to fit. For the seal around a lot of the openings, I went to Napa and get some rolls of door seal gaskets that again the same thickness and cut/glued all of it back in. I have some of the packages of the door seal material if you want me to send you a text with that info

Pictures when you have time would be great.

Jim look into closed cell adhesive foam, sometimes will be sold at home improvement stores referred to as window seal.

Just sitting here drinking a beer contemplating my next move. Got the alternator pump plumped to the motor. Had the metal oil line break off when sent back to the company we bought it from (was not charging correctly) and they would not own up to it. Also, part not available :(. Had to get creative and went to the local hydrolic shop and made something up. Think I'm gonna tackle the 62 PS lines next. A real PITA to get them between the frame and body. Oh. And I did grab a nap earlier and had this sweet pup climb up on me :) she even laid her chew toy on me

Are you on the floor? And aren't all golden's like that?
And yes, those lines are surely a wench job. I hooked up a new used stock pump the last few days and just getting the hoses back on it wasn't too much fun.
Love that blue! And what a gorgeous cat!
