Laying some of that BIG Gilfford Hill pipe!!! Was a pipefitter back in the 80's and ran a bunch of that stuff at Texas Eastman packing those seam belts sucked.
Its actually concrete mortar lined & coated steel pipe. This job had 1-1/4” thick and 5/8” thick - 12’ in diameter. All welded steel. Lots’ O Weld

Safety first. Was overdue for a fire extinguisher.

Yeah, that's what is called Gifford Hill pipe. Steel encased with concrete pressure water pipe.

Added some bling for the rear wheels... well, for one of them anyway. Ordered one to make sure it would fit. Since it does, the other one and the spare can get their very own center cap. Couldn't find the correct chrome with red paint, so these will have to do for now. (eBay, Toyota part #42603-60053, metal)

Is that a powder coated 60 series wheel? It looks great!

Project Wisdom Turns Folly. ‘73 frame came home yesterday. Ruff Stuff rear boxing kit means 20 rivets are coming out of the back. 16 were tended to yesterday. 1985 60 series power steering also negates 12 more rivets. Split transfer case means 4 more rivets become extinct for the transmission crossmember. 36 hot rivets, one grinder, one 3 lb. Hammer, and a large punch begging to be thrashed. The first 4 of 16 took way too long with just the grinder so I enlisted the Chinese Plasma Cutter. No comparison on ease of extraction. Not pretty but that’s what the metal glue gun is for.

Regarding the rivet removal: I found taking about a 3 foot length of steel rod about 1/2" to 5/8" thick with a point on one end pounded into the rivet shaft (after head ground off) pushes the rivet out nicely. The weight of the rod/bar does the work when pounded by a good sized one handed sledge hammer. The crew that put in my driveway left a couple of such rods that were used to support the concrete forms during the pours.
