Was installation that bad?
Need to do this on the 62, don’t like the thin wheel.

HaHa, the instructions say about one hour, but that's for people who don't have spatial dyslexia. I got lost at least six times and had to undo the thread 4-5 holes to pick up either a missed hole or wrapping the thread over instead of under the wheel.

Did that steering wheel wrap on my first VW beetle. As simple as it may seem I remember in 1970, I had trouble sewing the thing on and that was 54 years ago… some things just stick with you for a long long time

I sewed a cover onto the 80 a while back.

Knowing what I know now...
I'd order two.
Install the first one.
Cut the first one off.
Immediately install the second one with knowledge acquired installing the first one.

Compared head gaskets. I had ordered one from @cruiseroutfit in February but they was backordered and had to send to Japan for one. Finally showed up.
I really must give Kurt credit for the packaging though, I do get a bit nervous about them getting bent and creased during shipping. I got a perfectly sized box with 3/4" lumber stiffeners x4 along each long corner and a few width wide slabs of old pallet taped securely to the gasket kit. Truly the work of someone who knows what they're doing.
Anyway, I also have an official Toyota head gasket because I have heard that they are better than most. Here's what they look like side by side.

Glad it arrived safe and sound, hopefully it finds a good home. Fwiw we’ve had zero issues with the Stone aka NOK which is an OE manufacturer for Toyota on maaaaany parts. However it’s easy to see the gaskets are different. Older Stone gaskets were more similar to the current OEM Toyota offering, but then changed to what they call ‘updated’. That said I would have zero reservations about using the OEM gasket and we stock those too. I did a side by side on the F, F.5, 2F, 3F head gasket variants here fwiw,

There are quite a few threads on the many head gaskets found on the gasoline F engine family. However I'm working on a large gasket kit project and needed to get to the bottom of a few of them in my own head. I figured having a single reference thread would be helpful. If this already exists...

No fender lights. I added a wire to the bib lights and use them as both running and turn signals.

Appears to be charging but won’t start the next morning after a drive. Put it on the charger twice, successfully, but the third time the battery charger wouldn’t work with it.

Local Toyota dealer replaced it after testing but spent most of the morning trying to get my VIN in their system. Kept asking me for more characters until I gave them a photo of the door plate!

Big thanks and shout out to IH8MUD that I found this part number! I thought for sure it was a NLA item but my local Houston area Toyota dealer had 2 on hand, and today I got them both! I need one more Amazon convex mirror. I’m debating now whether to get these powder coated or just prime & paint. More pictures after….

87901-55011 is the part number for the convex mirror that goes with those arms. If you’re into that sorta thing.

If not leaving as-is, go with powder coat for durability. There are also convex mirror heads that look much like the rectangular OEM variety that I’ve got on my truck.
