T shirt sales are on line through the King of the Hammers web site. Feel free to share and I want to Thank everyone for all the support Team Rusty Nail Racing #7319 - https://store.kingofthehammers.com/products/team-rusty-nail-racing-7319
This probably has been covered somewhere before….Bent up some stainless welding rod to keep the tire carrier closed. Being cheap and all, decided to make instead of buying…. That being said, with the price of materials, it probably cost more than...
I just looked and they put the weights on the inside of the rim. Not really sure if that is the right way to do it, but that’s where they are. It’s kind of nice not seeing them in my opinion, but I will see how it drives very soon.
Actually, the weight of the tailgate pretty much rests on a tab welded to the bottom of the tailgate. That is bolted to a threaded hole that was used for the ambulance doors. The hinge bolts provide additional support, but really just help to...
The plan is to have it back together by Saturday afternoon, then run over to a backcountry stream that is known to hold some decent fish. If I can get the lid sealed, primed, and painted.
It will be a great time to go camping for about 4 days...
License plate mount attached to jerry can holder. A dedicated ground wire was ran down with the light wiring and fed thru a small grommet hole behind the Jerry can holder.
Bolt on tailgate painted and bumperetts, reflectors, rear step, tail...
Since this 40 will run topless or just a small bikini top 🤪 a solution was needed for the rear tailgate. We fabricated a bolt on tailgate that would have a jerry can holder attached with the OEM license plate holder bolted to that.
Took the fake 45 to the local automotive swap meet this morning. Got a set of bumperettes, license plate light, and antique Chrysler hubcap. Then the guy threw in these 2 Weiand intakes for a small block Chevy.
I will use the bumperettes and...
Pulled the 4 speed out of my cruiser yesterday. The plan had been to install the h55 today, but found I had a small rear main leak and decided to not be dumb and to wait until next weekend and fix it and then install the h55. Also disconcerted...
Some assembly required. Added new apron emblems and restored the old front blinker/running lights.
Added a ground wire to the lights and ran a wire to a dedicated ground location in the engine bay.
Then cleaned and painted the housing and...
Wetsanding (seemingly endless)/cut/buff of all the individual painted parts before assembling with all new hardware from @overlandmetric.
The best part so far is reassembling different pieces after being disassembled for so long. Everything is...
Hard to believe this is where my cruiser started a few years ago with these hideous front and rear tube bumpers.
The PO had removed the bumper supports to fit these monstrosities, so had to source new/used parts. Brandon from Classic Cruisers...
I even attempted to paint a few pieces. Did pretty good for my first time, with minimal drips and paint sags.
A few coats of bedliner was also applied. Normally I don’t think I would prefer bedliner on the interior tub, but the PO had done it...
With the bodywork complete, my garage was converted to a pretty sweet homemade paint booth. It kind of resemble a Dexter kill room (if you get the reference), but functioned as it should have for a garage paint job. Decided to go with Dune Beige...
Back together with all new belts and rubber cooling hoses.
Radiator was still in good shape so reinstalled. Also added a flashy new radiator cap and chain from Matt @vintageteqparts
