If you read through post 42 in this thread you'll find the dimensions and positions of the pads that were on my '73. I stuck my replacement pads to the tank instead of the floor but in the same position they would be on the floor.
Maybe a small amount of debris fell into the bearing. You can try blowing it with compressed air to remove but be careful not to dislodge the spring on the seal. In all likely-hood it just is a little snug and after the inner is pressed on see...
What did you use to install the bearings?
If you just tried driving them in with a hammer, it is possible you got lucky on the passenger side. The drivers side cage may have been slightly deformed. Does this mean it won't work or last, only...
It has held up fine. Like most paints, preparation is key to the final product.
With areas like the frame that can't be thoroughly cleaned I hit them with Rust Reformer before applying the top coat.
What is it about the KO2's that you're trying to improve upon? Looking for better mileage/wear, more traction, better road handling or just want to change the look? Then it boils down to how much you are willing/able to spend to try and achieve...

Keeping all the emissions...
You might want to investigate Dustless Blasting. Because water is involved there is no risk of warped panels from the heat created with standard blasting. Since you don't know the type of original undercoating the correct chemical stripper...
I'd want more information about the extent of the crack. Did it crack in line with the pin hole? Did it crack on only one side or both? Also, how do you expect to drive the vehicle?
It is all alignment. Try and get the transmission face and bellhousing surface parallel. There is usually a little bit of an angle so you will need to raise the trans when pushing it in. Then slide the trans forward, jacking when necessary...
Can't tell from the picture but it looks like the top collar on the pin is the only thing keeping it on. See if it has a set screw or two keeping it in place. If it does then chances are the tire carrier can then be lifted off the pivot pin.
