Got angry at the turn signal switch. Got to disassembling it and ....don't care. Disassembled it..cleaned it. I'm not tedious enough to reassemble it. Gave up. Hand signals are good enough for now. Drive it otherwise, Vallhalla.

@Soberacho Forgive my abstract perception….until I realized this is a headliner project, I thought it was a drip pan underneath the Land Cruiser.

(pssst….it is a headliner right?)

Yessir. It’s a HL install.

My 40 had a light gray headliner but it unglued and fell off just a few days before I brought it home. The padding was very thin and had a lot of rotting. It’s a shame because the PO paid extra to have it installed in Costa Rica before the truck was put on the big canoe.

The new HL is extremely high quality with very thick padding. It’s a light beige/ cream color.

As you can see the shop that’s doing the install had to patch a large area to produce an even surface. They’re going to let it cure overnight and do the HL install tomorrow. It should come out looking OEM good.

@Soberacho ..and this is for your beautiful truck? I would not have believed the headliner was bad…all of your photos look so good

Valve job, day 2: This header bolt kicked my butt for half the day. You know the one, right between the oilpan and framerail that's got the rounded off head where you can't even get a vicegrip or a blade on it. Finally wiggled it down low enough to get the little cutoff disc on it.
Then, elevated the head with sticks and twigs and odd pieces of lumber laying around and wrestled it over the fender and out. I think last time I did this I took the hood off. Not this time because rain.

Rubithon prep:
Took the head to the machine shop, stopped at the dealer to pick up some pieces. Kurt was out of headgaskets so I had to get one locally.
New manifold studs are longer, good I guess.

Ole Blueberry got kicked out of her garage spot this morning and into the shop. Complete wiring, Sniper, Vintage Heater, nothing stock, focus on being a frankentruck conglomeration. (wiring and brake lines roughed into place, nothing permanent yet).

Big milestone today. I got the engine mostly installed on the salt wagon fj40. Out with the oily grimy SBC and in with the somewhat cleaner 2f. Still need to bolt up the rear mounts, install new clutch, the transmission, exhaust, driveshafts and lots of little things including the missing exhaust stud in the picture. I am replacing all the studs and bolts there here soon. Probably should have installed before I put the engine in. But its hard to believe this time last year it had a Janky cobbled together stick welded steering shafts power steering (no joke was scary), Bestop seats, and an SBC.

That is such a good shade/tone of green. Mine is Rustic (emphasis on the rust) and I’m not overly in love with it. This shade will go in my inspiration folder along with mustard and olive.

That’s the 2GC. First one that we’ve done. No adaptor necessary, mounting holes on the sniper need a little tweaking.
Interesting. I was just looking at their site and they have a lot of smaller applications now. patiently awaiting feedback on this.

Basically bolt on for the 2f manifold?
