@Xylonmedia There is another header option, but they may have gone up in price since I bought mine in 2020. The Aussie Wildcat Header. Here is one example of them: Header Link. I bought mine from Ebay from seller APS8748. I had some questions after install and he corresponded with me easily through email. One thing to be aware of with this header though is that in Australia they aren't concerned with a steering box on the left side of the vehicle, so it is really close to the steering gear, which is a manual box on my '78. So close in fact that I had to remove the heat shield. I've been daily driving it like that for 3 years now though, so it seems to be okay. 1 quick smack with a ball peen hammer might solve it, but I haven't done that yet. Other than that, it is a quality piece, I installed it with a normal Fram gasket without any planing etc. and it has never leaked. The flange thickness is already metric and seems to be right out of the box. I painted it with VHT paint, but that flaked right off, I probably didn't do it right, another thing to get around to one of these days. Anyway, just thought I would add my experience to see if it helps anyone. Here's a bad picture of it, complete with flaky paint:

This is great information, thank you for sharing!

Rebuilt my tire carrier today.
True value hardware store, matched the diameter of the upper mount with 6” bolt.
Bronze bushing and washer. Cut original shaft down, welded bolt to the shaft and assembled upper hinge.

Then I welded 2 2” washers to the lower hole in the carrier and did the same setup.

Then I test fit everything and now it’s ready for sand blasting, ospho rust neutralizing and epoxy.

Developed a leak into the cab from my clutch master cylinder. Assuming it was pitted up inside I picked up a new Aisin from one of the vendors here. (OEM clutch masters are NLA.) When I got it apart the inside of the bore was spotless because I changed out my fluid every two or three years. That's the only reason I'm posting this - to encourage frequent brake/clutch system fluid replacement as there's such a great benefit. My original has been installed for 25 years. All that I needed to do was replace the inner seal as it had taken a "set" from being in the bore so long and maybe a little wear had happened as well. I had a Toyota rebuild kit, which is still available, so I threw it in instead of waiting to find just the inner seal. Below is a pic of the exploded parts and the box from the rebuild kit for a 1/75 - 7/80 FJ40/45, BJ40/45, HJ45, and FJ55 clutch master cylinder. The bagged stuff is what you get in the kit.

Here's a second pic of the original Toyota master and the Aisin aftermarket version. You can see that they're the same part from the same casting. Aisin just has the Teq logo (highlighted in red on the EM) crudely ground off of each unit so that no one can actually say it's aToyota part. It's really obvious in person. Okay, the plastic reservoir has yellowed a bit but it's good for another few years.

I replaced my sealed Sylvania Halogens with the Toyota Koito kit that everyone has been raving about, still can’t believe it’s only $16! Install was very easy, results are amazing - low beam before and after pics are below, I wish I had done the same for the high beams as I think that’s an even bigger improvement.

The only downside is now I have to upgrade my 62 lighting 😂 - too bad the fix isn’t as cheap and simple.

A local member swapped his front grill and other parts so he could run those same lights. The improvement was even bigger than in his 40 series. Not stock, but neither is the RHD->LHD swap he did either. Now his JDM diesel 60 series is LHD and has 7” round headlights. :D

Edit: I reread his comments… low beam was improved. High beam a small loss going from 4 lights to 2 lights.

So if I order up a set of these from a Toyota parts website, will they come with bulbs too, or just the glass and wire harness?

Yes, everything you need including bulbs - can’t beat it!

Plug and play. If you have a friendly local Toyota dealership you won't have to pay for shipping. Some want more than others.

Finally got around to replacing some compromised sections of my exhaust system……. Real surprised that the 40+ year old muffler was still in good shape!

Ya, that would be nice, but unfortunately my local dealer will try to squeeze a nickel out of you if they think they can. I checked 3 different places to buy these and shipping was anywhere from $61 to $97.

Well. I guess I'll call my local dealer tomorrow and see if they'll at least give me the list price. I've checked a dozen more websites. All with outrageously high shipping. I mean come on. They'll fit in a flat rate usps box. Right? Should $15 to $25.

I ordered from Toyota Parts Overstock last week and shipping was $15, so $31 total for my order.

Buy them on whatever local dealers website and choose pick up at store.

I bought 2 sets and picked them up at a local dealer.

Or, I’ll sell you my extra set for $150 shipped 😉

Looks like a great mod. I can’t remember the last time I drove my 40 in the dark, though!

The USPS motto for their parcel box is: “ if it fits, it ships”. In the stock dealer packaging, it is too big to fit…but, if you creatively re-pack the parts in the USPS BOX, it will
