Poured bit of fuel in carb, cranked it, started right up. Went to check for puffs of blue smoke, waited, waited...no smoke. Does not make any sense!

Checked for leaks at thermostat housing, nothing there. Had replaced thermostat and all gaskets. Went back to look for blue smoke, nothing nothing. Checked dashboard, holy chickens, my water gauge was working!

i stood back amazed

Modified an oem 78 and below stepboard to adopt the indentation found on the later model 40 series, painted and installed. Also mounted new tire and wheel combo to the tune of 235/85 R16 size on oem 16x6 Toyota Rims.

Additionally, there is an unquantifiable satisfaction achieved by using the proper JIS mounting hardware that all "J-Tins" deserve.

Installed the Scat ProCar 90 seats that my wife gave me for Christmas. Seats are nice; the mounting brackets were horrible, no two alike, had to saw them up and the seat mounting brackets on the provided sliders to get them to work.

These four mounting brackets are supposed to be identical: 🙄

I just read that Awl_TEQ is shutting down his business for a while and is currently just selling what he has in stock.
Said he may fire back up at some point, but thats a ways off.

If you go the the last page of the link posted, you can read what he had to say.

Just an FYI...

How is the Holly working for you now?

I sold that rig a few months back. There is a great thread on it here... Builds - 1978 FJ40 Mustard Yellow - almost perfect thread.

And I just got done taking my first data-log with my Holley Sniper 2300 on my Olive 78 . Going to try to learn all about it, and fine tuning...

The cooling system flush that i started two weeks ago snowballed into new water pump, radiator, hoses, clamps, thermostat, power steering pump, belts and a remflex gasket. Best part was no leaks after Idling for an hour (followed by a test drive) and no left over bolts during clean up.

Drove it to work Friday and discovered the drivers side defrost wasn’t working, the defrost tube was missing, found the defrost tube in the box of spare parts, cleaned it up and installed. Replaced a broken left side window latch after sanding, priming and shooting the metal part black. Started polishing the top. Surf City Garage products. Beyond clay, Nano Seal, and Nano Gloss. Will post pictures tomorrow. Got compression numbers as a baseline since the rig is new to me.
140, 138, 145, 148, 140, 155. Happy to have these things behind me. Still working on front door weather stripping. I have done this once before on another 40. Didn’t remember it being this difficult. I’ll be using a lot of adhesive remover to clean up when finished. Hope to finish tomorrow. Also on the list for tomorrow is front break pads. This might be wishful thinking.
