Btw ... yes they were on the front of my cruiser for about the last 12-14 on and off ... just never wired lol

To be clear for myself... you have split rims don't you? So you actually disassembled your wheel and patched the tube. And then re-assembled the tire and wheel. Whoa.

Yes my split rims... didn't have time to paint or lard the bead however :meh:

I keep a nice tire repair kit in my truck that I put a few of my tube repair items in ... for an emergence for me or others ... Thanks again Mark @65swb45 for my Major Award!!
Contest-Solve bent steering box mystery

paint and lard stuff was home and didn't have time to run there then work... i like to get there and get my coffee .... or else Johnny is not a happy boy :)

My Dr says I need coffee or else it makes me angry :meh:

Had the csg “cheap sucking gasket” ... that’s most likely only known to me and a few others who may have worked for Britannia Motors 30 years ago ... it’s something we would see on the British stuff we used to work on with Webers ... happened on su’s and stromburgs as well ... owner used to say it “csg in bay 2” (the signal to rebuild the carb) ... cheap gasket starts to work it’s way into the carb... typical out of balance leyland engines helped to loosen screws most likely as well ... leak leak suck suck ... or drip drip

If there’s a spot that can leak... it will (from British car repair manual 101 :) )

In my case I should have got the better gasket set when I rebuilt it last ... but... 4 kids and no time and no money I resorted to ... cheap

My bad... but had an older used Italian top cover gasket ... for those “just in case” moments lol

Funny thing happened along the way to the gas station ...

Usually starts a joke or something bad lol

Well went to the gas station ... filled the Jerry can with gas for the impending 2’ of forecasted snow overnight... then drive back

Looked over at the hood

Guess when I finish the top plate gasket on the weber last night I didn’t latch down the hood... yep... both sides lol

I love my split hood ... they are heavy :)

I also drove the kids to karate this morning and back as well... say... lucky?

TYG

I would have been pretty bummed

Been just over a year ... it is now time to remove the plugs ... and install the now cleaned plugs from last year.... because.... I can :meh:

Plugs removed do not look too bad... all uniform and acceptably clean considering ... I abuse my truck lol

They will be cleaned and put away as spares ... next year will probably be new

3&4 possibly could use a valve adjustment one of the two is slightly tapping

Removed the cap and rotor... cleaned and reinstalled

Too cold and snowy for much else

Survived one day of the polar vortex ... going to day 2

Went to get truck inspected yesterday ... the guy that does the inspections left early

Went home and changed the oil ... had to get my sludge out of there before it went to -10 lol

Today got it inspected .... pass!!!

The shop kid stalled it 5 times getting it in ... you would like to think one year they can just drive it in ... at least they didn’t come to me and ask me to drive it in

:)

Had a conversation with the inspector guy talking about the truck ... looking older ... aka rusty

Reminded my of this:

Been awhile since I posted here... Not too much other than it’s rustier

Had a clip break my Hollywood Accessories visor ... I think over 40 years old that it’s not under warranty anymore :meh:

Hate to throw it out ... sooo I added an insert to hold the broken side ... works fine by me and it’s hard to tell ... did not think a weld on spring steel would work well or even my ability to weld that thin lol

Been wanting to have these reproduced... so took it upon myself to do it... they are not flawless but... they are still very good and look great ... even a foot away they look good :)

The toyota kiss is/was a promotional sticker from late 70’s into the 80’s you may even remember it :)

And nobody was making the early conferr sticker ... it was being sold online for $30 for one ... ahhh no lol

Still pathetically keeping it alive...
I TRULY ADMIRE YOUR ABILITY TO KEEP THIS TRUCK GOING AS A DAILY DRIVER...

... looking older ... aka rusty
LOL ..... AND YES EVERY TIME I LOOK AT YOUR TRUCK I SEE MORE AND MORE RUST....

IM WONDERING IF A COUPLE OF GALLONS OF PENETRATING OIL WOULD DO SOME GOOD?

MY THOUGHTS ARE OF A DRIVE THROUGH CAR WASH, INSTEAD OF SOAP AND WATER, SPRAY PENETRATING OIL EVERYWHERE....

WHAT DO YA THINK?? :hmm:

Or Fluid Film... take some preservation measures ala @wngrog

Also, I’m still hankering for an updated overall truck shot. 😉

I had to go back and see when I did this last ... had an issue with my ps tail light... seemed like a ground issue ... however when I opened it up ... it was much more

Or less ... however you want to look at it :meh:

July 27/2014 I replaced this taillight with a cheapo Taiwan light... it lasted under 6 years lol

Good thing is I still had the taillight that I bought years ago ... but... also Taiwan

Made sure the drain on the lens was correct ... replaced after fighting with a bad light socket

Bad news is I am Most likely going to replace this light again in 5 years lol

Dislike replacing things so soon... I can see 20 years ... but... 5 .... you get what you pay for :meh:

Wow that’s especially concerning since a lot of the OEM 75-79 tail lights are NLA. As I recall when I replaced mine I had no issue finding the left side but it took weeks for the parts house to find the right hand side. I’ve seen the taiwanese replacements and thought about picking up a set - 5 years is a bit underwhelming.
