Briefly, what is the issue & where is this plug?

I assume only to be done at full rebuild time.

Yes the manifold has to be off to plug it.

The rod the flapper is on has its own bushings. If it leaks there you have to replace the bushing or just remove the issue and plug the hole.

I think @Ol Yeller is asking about the oil galley plug.

On the 2F (and other F variants?) head, the factory pressed a plug into the end of a passage that was machined (or cast?) into the head for oil. This plug can work loose, and if it comes out the engine can lose most/all oil in a very rapid manner. Plug is around the #4 or 5 spark plug.

When you have a 2F head at the machine shop for work it is a perfect time to tap threads into the end of the passage, clean the metal shavings out, and then insert a threaded plug so you will never run the risk of bleeding out all the oil.

Got it, thanks gents.

Warthog 4.4 Engine Swap
It has begun.

This thread is hard to dig through because I post so much stuff in it so I have a side-bar thread going that will be Hot-Rod 2F and H55 Swap specific.

I’ll keep this one updated but not as much detail as I hope the other to have.

@FJ60Cam needs a clean slate to draw his masterpiece

Looking forward to the other thread. My 55 has a fresh 2f with 3fe manifolds on it. There is a pretty bad whine in it so not sure if it is input bearing on the 4 speed or what but it has me thinking Holly Sniper and H55. Thanks for sharing.

@scrapdaddy I have a couple of gallons of Lizardskin sound deadening. It says I am supposed to spray it but I am not stripping all the items out of the engine bay. Can I get away with brushing it on?

Fenders and firewall.

Snorkel Install
Figured while I had the motor out I would make the snorkel functional.

@nvrlose54 is going to modify the oem air cleaner to have to intake on the passenger side. I did this on my 60. Works great.

Battery will go to drivers

You might already know this and have a solution but I tried, last week, to fit the matching water pump, fan and fan clutch from a mid 80s 2F and that combo did not fit with the stock radiator in a 70 FJ55. There is a water pump that fits an 8/76 - 1/79 2F with oil cooler and without fan clutch that I'm going to try next. Maybe some others were able to get that combo to work but figured I'd share my experience since it looks like that is what you have ready to install.

We banged this about in this thread

Pig drivetrain questions- 2F/H55/Splitcase

It’s going to be close. How close was yours?

I was trying to at least have 1” space.

Ok, cool, looks like you already have it sorted out with measurements and parts from Kurt. My setup ended up right at the radiator, no clearance Clarence.

We may or may not have it figured out but I’m going to go down this road and try it!

Lizard skin is down. Used almost 2 gallons for the 2 coats under the hood and in the engine bay. I have a little left for my tranny hump

Painting back with the Canvas white I used in the body to somewhat match Cygnus white

Lizard Skin
I like the engine bay to be the color of the truck.

Mission accomplished. This was a lot of work. Hope it pays off.

Sorry I missed your question and yes, rolling works fine. They sell a white ceramic coating that takes the light color paint a lot easier. Looks good.
