Why are we just now seeing this Cruiser?Robert,
I'm trying to figure out tires also. Stuck some 235/85R16s on Saturday just to take a look. Expecting this 2" lift to settle a bit. And I've got adjustments on the front that will bring that up about an inch to lessen the stink bug stance.

i had kenda kevlar 33x9.50s on my fj40! @Shyrock put them on before I got it but I kept them on it. they are fantastic and really didnt wear that much over 3 years. Not currently mounted but these are my original 55 rims that I just got powder coated and those are Kenda Klever 33x9.50 RT tires. I have the "common" 70 series OME lift on my 55 that @gonzopancho referenced which gives you about a 2" lift. FWIW, I removed BFG 33x10.50 ATs from those rims. These Kendas are getting pretty good reviews but I don't think they look period correct. You would pretty much have to go with a bias ply tire like the ones you are considering to get that look.
I have Dunlop 7.50R16 tires on my '83 Troopy and my '94 FZJ75 pickup on 16" retaining ring rims. They can be a little bouncy until you get the flat spots smoothed out if you haven't driven them in a few days but otherwise they ride okay.

these do look really nice under there! I may have to buy another set
how is the ride on those parabolic springs?? I remember you saying it was fighting you a lot getting it installed. I am glad you posted this because I found some chrome 60 series wheels that I thought about picking up. That size might be good for me. I am trying to make the fj55 more of a family daily driver and I dont think a lift and 33s right now is the way to go for me. I know BFG makes a 750 R16 in the Mud terrain tire too. That might be the way to go too. Get city racer wheels and get the bfg tires. I think thats the most expensive option.Robert,
