I run EBC front and rear in mine , to combat the severe overweight problem .. i like them
My brakes used to work good but after it sat at the body shop for several months I noticed the pedal was firm but it didn't stop like I remembered, all four calipers had at least one stuck piston. Have you heard of pistons sticking after sitting for a period of time? I'm betting that with four new/working calipers and EBC pads I should notice an improvement.

Got the fan shroud built.

And test fit.

Now I need to find time to Cerakote it black and mount it permanently, this should be my final attempt at managing the heat for the 4BT and if it falls short I’ll LS swap it.

While test fitting the shroud I noticed the new fan hub bearing had a little wobble, because I’m already running out of time to get everything done if I plan to make the pig party I briefly contemplated running it until after the event. I quickly decided against that idea after looking at how many other parts it would take out with it if it failed on the trip like the radiator so new bearing is ordered and will need to get replaced before 6/17.

Art as usual

Just gave this thread a read from front to back.
Love the design work and quality of everything you do!

As for the brake issue, machining some pistons from stainless works a treat for stopping corrosion.

Took the pig out for a test drive today to see if I could get it to overheat, the steepest longest hill in my area is ID 55 Horseshoe Bend Hill it is a steep 7% grade for 6 miles and I drove the entire hill in fifth gear A/C blowing at about 83° ambient outside temperature, because of traffic I wasn’t able to get over 75MPH but was able to stay above 65 MPH for most of the hill. The engine temps never got over 198° and quickly went back to 185° once I crested the hill.
I’m hopeful the new fan and shroud will do what I need to use the power of the little 4BT, time will tell but I’m feeling better about the drive to the Pig Party.

Sounds like a win

I just remembered something that I had noticed when was driving my turbo 1hz 80 series last. It ran cooler after I lowered it from a 3” lift back to factory ride height. Maybe something to do with air turbulence caused by the front axle being more exposed to more airflow. Just something else to consider, although I’m guessing your ride height is somewhat determined by the engine.

I took my friend for one last trip today and shook down the target carrier in preparation for the pig party, we went on a 160 mile loop and couldn’t ask for a nicer day.

Hills are all still green and the views will take your breath away.

We made several stops to check out the river and pee on bushes.

Stopped at our favorite gas station/grocery store/liquor store/restaurant and bought cheese burgers and beer.

We hit all of our favorite shady spots and peed on bushes before we chilled out and enjoyed the day.

I need to go over the possessed pig tomorrow and recheck all the bolts and fluids but I believe we are good to go, looking forward to the pig party.

Touching. Glad you got one more trip in with Sampson. He will be missed this pig party.

I highly recommend it Bob! Especially the Sawtooth range, and all along the Main Salmon River, and along the Payette between McCall and Boise. Really want to get to Couer d’Alene area soon and see that part.
And of course, if you were ever lucky enough to float the Middle Fork, you’d come across one of the greatest gems in the world, Sunflower Hot Springs.
