Excuse the hijak detour. @J Mack gets to see this stuff whenever he feels like it, while the rest of us dream about it.

That looks like Ski Jump on the Middle Fork of the Salmon

Stopped at our favorite gas station/grocery store/liquor store/restaurant and bought cheese burgers and beer.

We hit all of our favorite shady spots and peed on bushes before we chilled out and enjoyed the day.

I need to go over the possessed pig tomorrow and recheck all the bolts and fluids but I believe we are good to go, looking forward to the pig party.

.

I hope you had a good day with your buddy Jim.
So sorry.
With the emotional toll it takes to say “goodbye”, I am always amazed that I keep signing up for it again...
Maybe we can all pee on a bush in memory of Samson.

Think about this, I bought my 1 1/2 ton Dodge (cab chassis) in Kellogg, Idaho with no bed. We drove 2500 miles home and we couldn't talk to one another because of the ruff ride. Some of us on the trip enjoyed that part! :)

This isn’t in reference to your sweetie’s inclination to talk, is it???

Sorry we don’t get to see you guys this year.

Quick trip report..

We headed to the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum the morning of Jun 18th to hang out with the pig party group have a few laughs and tell a few lies then our plan was to head home on the 19th via dirt roads.

Outside temps where in the mid to high 80’s and with the pig fully loaded for a week of off grid camping A/C blowing cold the entire time driving 80MPH+ most of the way including all of the hills between Idaho and Utah the engine temps never got over 198° and we averaged 21.5 MPG. I expected the MPG to be a bit low due to driving 85/90 for a fair bit just to keep up with the flow of traffic and at those speeds I’m a bit outside of my efficiency RPM range. The big news though is the engine temp, nothing I did could make the temp climb above 198° including hitting every big hill in fifth gear A/C running flat footed to the point I had to lift because we were going scary fast and I was getting the stink eye from my better half sitting next to me. I don’t want to jinx myself but I’m calling this overheating issue solved for now.

Some friends decided to join us on our dirt road drive home so we sat down with @mbradshaw and @cruiseroutfit and planed the best route to accommodate a larger group with some fuel and camping stops along the way. I can’t thank these two guys enough, we had an epic drive home and everything went exceptionally well.

The basic route we took home.

New dog loves camping, I think she’ll make a good trail dog once she learns some manners.

A big thanks to all the friends that joined me on our drive home, we had a great time hanging out with you!!

One of the question’s I’m asked frequently is do I use the pig for its intended propose dragging targets out to the desert.

I am helping a buddy get his new hunting rifle dialed in before hunting season.

Setting a few targets 728 yards from our shooting spot.

2 ½”ish three shot group at 728 yards from a light weight rifle with hunting bullets.

We got out to 1450 yards before it got too hot and spotting hits started to get difficult but the Target Carrier worked flawlessly for its intended propose of dragging my junk around.
