Here's a lesson that I learned 20 or 25 years ago: Don't buy important parts from CCOT. They're fine for sun visors and calendars but not for brakes or steering and other stuff that your life might depend on.I checked CCOT

Lug nuts are pretty important and not a piece I would want to cut corners on.
I am a BIG fan of City Racer. My lug nuts are all terrible, really rusted. I checked CCOT but they wanted $5.92 each for a total of $159.84 (plus shipping) to replace all 27 (all 24 on the ground and the 3 on the spare). No way! So I checked City Racer and for 27 it is $67.50 (plus shipping). So I checked Toyota Parts Deal and it would be $94.20 plus shipping. I checked O'Reilly and it would be $80.73 plus tax. I looked at some on Amazon and the price is good, 24 for $19.54 but it also says "Frequently returned due to poor size or fit", so I thought I would check with you guys. Ebay looked like only 24 packs. Any recommendations?
@FloridaLife 90942-01007 is what I used for my early 66 but I think it's the same for most 40's. Check the parts catalog for your year - it's listed as Nut, hub I think.Ding
It is the same # for 1980 FJ40 and what I got last summer - Toyota online just finished a 25% off sale, maybe wait for the next offering and jump on that??? And if you want City Racers, go for it, your Rig, you get to define what right looks like.@FloridaLife 90942-01007 is what I used for my early 66 but I think it's the same for most 40's. Uh, yep, not a chance I'll last that long! How long did the factory lug nuts last ? 50 years or so $2/year for 27 units - cheap enough IMHO. I doubt you will ever replace them again.

I have a 100% fail rate on ebay and amazon. Last time I tried a set of lugnuts on ebay and they showed up missing 2. FFS. No recourse, vid of unboxing, etc. Amazon is 90% chinese knockoff crap UNLESS you can truly find a trustworthy seller. My lug nuts are all terrible, really rusted. I saw a video of 2 young men working together to take the top off an FJ40 to go for a ride. They struggled with it and looked like a 3rd person would have been very helpful.
I would like to rig something up in my garage to be able to easily take the top off by myself when I want to go topless. Some pulleys or chain hoist and stuff.
If any of you have rigged up something to do this in your garage, please tell me about it and post some photos.
Thank you.

FJ40 Hardtop Lift Storage System
Great thread with good ideas on how to store the FJ40 Hardtop: https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/209709-fj40-hardtop-removal-storage.html I liked the Racor Lift System the best ($130 on Amazon). See pictures below. I beefed up the lag bolts into my ceiling that came from the...forum.ih8mud.com
Fantastic! Thank you!
The 4 may be your original wheels. There should be a date code stamped into them along or near the inner center line, under the rubber bumper for the tube if that is still there.Got all 5 wheels & tires off the FJ40 and took them to get the tires taken off so I can have the wheels cleaned, blasted, and prepped for paint or powder coating. Those old tires put up a fight, but they got them off. Much to my surprise, they all had inner tubes. I never even thought about that. I haven't seen that since I was a kid. I was also curious to see if my wheels were riveted or welded. I looked at the spare first, and it was welded. But all 4 wheels that were on the ground were riveted.![]()
