Happy Thanksgiving yall. Today is turkey day but tomorrow is going to be a garage day. Got this ruffstuff kit the other day looks stout.

Got a good day in on Black Pig Friday. I am really threading the needle with putting the panhard bar in. The bracket on the axle literally could only go between the radius bracket and turn stop. I had to buzz 1/4" to make it fit. I clocked it forward to miss the shock. The frame bracket had a little more options like 1/2" forward or back. Ran a string from side to side and it was clear a straight bar was not going to work. It was a bummer because a straight bar was almost perfectly level.

Got bar bent and cut and looked great. But the kit comes with heim joints and because of the bend it was going to be floppy floppy. Did some interwebbing and store crawling. Basically bought a link bushing and had to cut it down to fit. This meant the bar we bent was now too short. So we made a new juan. Brackets are still tacked in because I ran out of wire:(

I have always been a fan of shock hoops. Killer work! Looks like you are definitely having fun!
Thanks. It is a good time. Everytime I add something I fear that I'm going to have issues. Adapt and overcome as most Pig owners learn. I didnt initially want to do the hoops but the logistics would not allow anything else. Now that they are there I do like them.

For every action there's a reaction, so we do adapt and overcome. There is always a work around solution, but in my case it usually costs me money. We come to expect it and become desensitized to it, just part of hobby, throwing money and blood at it. Enjoy it!

...throwing money and blood at it...

New Pig mantra!

Doomer,

Did you get a chance to sort out and mount your hydroboost system yet?
Sorted, yes. Mounted, no. Im using the stock pump with the housing and remote reservoir from a Savanah/Express. I need to find a place for reservoir but the driver side normally has the shower and radiator overflow. I could change some of that around but won't know until the motor is in and staying in.

It will be higher for sure. The pump is equal with the frame. I got options. The reservoir was meant to hang down from the cowl on the van. The bracket probably won't work for me. Ill fabbercobble something.

This a 2 weekend update. Last week I got more wire and added cross bars to the shock towers. Also made the panhard bar brackets permanent. The axle on the bracket was a little stubborn. It was hard to see that it wasn't flush all around. Had to buzz a few things to get a good fit. Got new hood hinges and 2x4 tube for the rockers from Landcruisnman.

Today was an interesting day. I put all the suspension in and put the wheels on. First time it rolled since February.

.....

...we put the motor and trans together and dropped it in. Wish "drop it in" was as easy as it sounds.

With the motor in we could identify some issues. The tie rod was close the oil pan. There was never going to be a lot of room for a radiator.

The power steering pump fits though.

Soooo, we decided to move the engine back 2 inches. It was a hasty move but it was going to make a lot of things better. The crossmember is a u-bolt style so we could slide it back. We took the motor mounts and cut them up a bit and moved the bushing forward. I have tons of room for the radiator now and those headers I bought will now work. I do need to make a new front drive shaft and need to shorten the rear.

I really like the squat I got with the motor. I need it to drop 1 more inch and I think all the accessories and fluids should do that for me.

She's looking meaner and meaner. Did you hold up the a/c compressor to check fit? Tell me about your Wilwood calipers, did they bolt right up to the Toyota axle?

Compressor fits within the frame and motor mount gets close but we are all good.

The brakes are the Man-A-Fre conversion. There is a bracket that bolts to the old drum bolts.
