Small, possibly cheesy update, but one little victory nonetheless.
Had broke one of the cowl screws during disassembly. Initial attempt to extract it proved fruitless. Today stepped up the left-handed drill bit to 5/32”, then used a 3/16” extractor (tapered straight edge style) which ended up successful. Ran a 5mm-.80 tap to clean the threads (went ahead and cleaned all the rest while I was at it).
Just mentioning this because I recall some other people recently snapping the Phillips head screws on their cowls trying to remove them. I’ll use anti-seize on as short as bolts/screws as I can get away with when it goes back together.

Been chasing all of the threads on my frame in anticipation of reassembly . Broke a couple of my cowl screws. Thanks for posting tap size ,will make that step easier. All steps toward getting back on road count.😎

Was able to put a couple hours in today. I started a second list of miscellaneous repairs and finish work, which I blew out about half of today. The only thing photo worthy (somewhat), was the repair of these cracks in the lower B-pillar door mount on the driver side. Not sure why cracks would form here on a passenger door mount, but wanted to get it taken care of. V’ed out, welded, ground flush. Next.

Sounds like a good time. Used to do whitewater rafting on the Arkansas when we lived in Colorado. Enjoy your time on the river.

So, that's a one man boat? You going with a group or solo? I've never done a trip down a big river , just small Missouri rivers. Pretty cool!

Set up with the oars, you can run 2 people pretty comfortably on multi-day trips (rower and passenger), however it’s normally run just solo. I’d kinda been holding out for a 12 footer, which is a great solo rig for most of the rivers I’ve run, which can also haul a passenger if needed. A 14’ boat is considered one of the best all around rafts for whitewater multi-day trips. Had thought it might be just a little too big for what I do and the frequency which I go river running (not often enough) and a lot of gear to store. But this deal was not to be bypassed.
Lando expressed that he really wanted to go. This will be his first river camping excursion. He asked, “Dad, should I bring my Pig Party shirt?”
“Well heck yeah!”

Yes, great trip👍 Stayed pretty warm throughout. We did have an issue on day 3 where around lunch, Lando got out of his splash gear and water boots and didn’t put them on. Later on we hit some rapids (the only ones) that ended up soaking him. We were trying to make it to this camp the group wanted, but by the time we got there, it was taken. By that time Lando was getting hypothermic, so I had to pull over down stream, make a fire, and get him into some warm, dry clothes, and his splash gear. We caught up with the group a mile downstream at camp.
