Glad to see such great progress! We’re in the same spot.....a bunch of parts waiting to go back together .

Here’s a couple attachment point pics @PabloCruise ‘s request. Just mimicking what I saw @scrapdaddy and a few others do. The pieces on the back already had pre-punched holes. 90%of the steel used was free scrap that I picked up from work. The 2-1/2” x .125 square tubing was the only steel I had to purchase at about $7 and change per foot. The 2-1/2” x 3/16” was almost $9 a foot. I went with the .125”.

Quite the Cruiser-filled weekend. Went to Phoenix Saturday to meet up with @Garrissey to drop off some parts, and met his friend Alvis who has a yard and shop loaded full of vintage Cruiser iron. Alvis is working on a ‘67 FJ40 with a patina so rich, NG would cream his khakis. Got home and started on some metal work on the tub.
Went back down to Phoenix today to meet up with @BushmanAZ and pick up his ‘84 FJ60 parts rig. Dropped that off at my mom’s place because I am out of room at my house. Went back home and got back on some more tub work. #productive

The passenger side wasn’t as bad as the drivers side. I used a spot-weld cutter to cut the outer plate(s) from the inner mount cradle (or whatever you want to call them), then used the spot-weld cutter to remove those as well.
The plan is to re-fabricate the inner mounts out of some square tubing, weld those in, then cover them with some 1/8” plate. Funny thing about those inner mounts is that the plate they’re spot welded to is not solidly welded in place. It’s all kind of flexy in there. Not sure if they engineered it that way or if they just decided it wasn’t important to tie it all in together 🤔

Also funny to me how those rear tub mounts aren’t really designed to deter dirt and moisture from entering that whole rear cavity with the exception of the cheesy little flaps that are supposed to cover the access holes. I’m thinking that a mount that was enclosed on every side but the access would be much better at keeping dirt and mud from getting into that cavity.

Great pics showing all the layers sandwiched in to one big rust trap...mine is going to be worse than yours if I ever open it up.

Got the new replacement mounts figured out - should have them done over the next day or so.
Look fw to the detailed pics!
