I have always thought it would be cool to be able to sit or stand on the hood. I had a girlfriend who looked really good sunbathing on the hood and front windsheild- really good. Was it worth it to have to pound out the dents? I think so. It would be so much better if it was designed so!

So the wife and kids left this morning for Colorado until Sunday, which means I get all kinds of time to throw at this project! It would just be nice if I could do all the fab work, sand blasting and everything else, here, instead of having to run all over to do different things, and wait on this or that. Oh well...
One thing for sure is that it is a good thing I got started on this when I did. Another ten years would have been hell on this thing, even being from AZ.
I do have to thank whoever the PO it was that had the undercoating sprayed on - that stuff did a fantastic job of protecting the underside! Now I just gotta get that old stuff off!

So the first priority is the aux battery fittament and repair on the inner fender/core support. Got the position where I want it. Even got the foot trimmed to fit on the first try!

Well, in order to do a proper job on the firewall, gonna have to remove a lot more stuff. Want to get everything taken care of right up to the windshield so it won’t have to come out just yet - monsoon season is about to begin. And while everything on the outside is off, might as well pull out whatever’s in the way on the inside of the firewall and get done what needs to be taken care of there.

In other news, taking inner fenders/core support, outer fenders, cowl, and hood to get sandblasted today. Sandblasting a bunch of smaller pieces tomorrow myself, and picking up a used stock radiator in Phoenix on Sunday.

Got to work most of the day on the Pig, after putting the wife’s POS Ford Focus back together. Sandblasted some smaller pieces (headlight bezels, core support x-member, hood latch mount, and the steering shaft). Disassembled more stuff, including the heater core housing, so now much of my inner firewall is clear.
Rerouted fuel lines.
Removed PS pump mount to redeaux. It’s done the job for like 14 years, but has never been right. A remnant from my “rushy” days, trying to get stuff done in a hurry for an outing, or before the boss showed up;)

What PS do you have? I’m going to put that on the list.

It’s a Scout PS setup. I picked up the original pump and box for next to nothing. Ended up using the original box as a core, still using the same pump.
My adapter setup for the shaft is pretty interesting. One of those McGuiver moments where I always patted myself on the back for the ingenuity, but was never very keen on showing it off. If I could get the shaft reworked to have the proper adapter, I’d be happier.

I’ll post some pics tomorrow.

Looks good to me! It's amazing what we thought up and did when young. You should of seen my 40 with no body. Alcohol and a stick welder, Yeeha!

You think so?:grinpimp: Thank you!
If I can find the right adapter, I’ll replace this, but until then, it’s good to go.

Well I can’t see why it’s bad unless the weld on the yoke was bad but it looks like it’s held fine so far.

Couple more pics from today.
Pulled off the unnecessary mechanical fuel pump, and blocked off hole.
Adhesive holding the steering column bucket to the firewall finally let go, so was able to get the column out of the way.
Removed the non-operational side vents.
Removed hood hinges, both of which I think are bent from when the hood flew open on a PO.
