Yeah it honestly works pretty good for what is essentially a stock truck with big tires bolted on.. anyone could have done that garden with stock gearing and open/open probably.

It will be way better when I do the springs, the tires rub really bad. I have a set of 80 series rims I'm debating swapping in, they have an inch less backspace (1" wider all around), it would give me better stability when I do the SOA, however I'm worried about how the rears are going to stuff after. I might bolt on 1" spacers all around to simulate first.

I’m really not one to say, but if you swap rims that have an inch less back space then add 1” spacers that brings you back to where it is w/ the rims you have? Or are the 80 rims bigger, 16 or 17”? What width tire? If a tire is set outward more than what happens when you do articulate a bunch and it’s pushed upward? Will it rub on the edge of the well?

No, less backspace means the wheel will sit farther away.

They are 16's. I'm currently running Tacoma wheels, which are a 16x7.5 with 5.5" of backspace. 80 wheels are a 16x8 with 4.5" of backspacing. Tires are 315x75r16. Pretty much a 35x12.5x16.

That's the question, I want to go to the different wheels to give myself more track width but I'm worried about them rubbing more on the fenders. By putting spacers in it will simulate where the 80 wheels will sit without having to mount and un-mount a bunch of tires.

Ah thanks for those great responses. So I’ve had the backspace terminology backwards. The tires I had 12.5 and the crap rims clearly had too much then cuz my TRE dust boots were literally eaten up by them even w/ 1/4” spacers I never knew were on there till I just took everything apart to do the knuckles.

I spent my weekend doing the opposite to a 62 (putting a 3F back in)...! I would have preferred to be doing what you are.

I think he is wondering if your swapping your factory power steering over to a Saginaw power steering pump.

I figured that as much...
It’s a Chevy, it already has a Saginaw pump on it. It looks like it’s hitting the steering box in the picture because it is. The motors actually resting there and on the blocks of wood on top of the axle, positioning it exactly where I want it.
The pump is getting converted to a remote reservoir setup using PSC’s replacement pump housing. It won’t have any interference after that.

All soft fuel hose is Earl’s UltraPro PTFE-lined with associated Earl’s fittings.

Is that a motor mount? Should be great. I’ve seen JK control arm bushings be used the same way. No vibrations at all. Nice work.
