got some more time on the pig yesterday
- brand new licence plate light installed
- new thermostat gasket and rad cap
- new powersteering res hose
- drained fuel filter bowl
- removed a bolt that somehow found its way into my exhaust (not from the turbo). no more annoying rattle! oh yeh
- installed load resistors on the indicators and send a video for the engineer. removing a bulb makes them flash faster.

got some barn door rubbers to install, and trailer wiring to finish up today after i help a local cruiserhead get their 2h troopy running again.

got the last few bits off the wreck.. free wheeling hubs and 2 x locked 4.56 centers.. the front was airlocked and will fit in the rear of the 80, the rear had an auto lokka and ill keep it as a spare R&P should the airlocked center ever get damaged.

Working that 55!
gotta get confidence up with a fresh build!

I fiddled with the throttle cable and it idles about 700-750 rpm and shuts off without a shudder now. forgot to check for leaks but i think I got them all sorted.

committed now. advertised our 2003 discovery 2 td5 this afternoon and got a call about 30mins after the ad went live... no sale yet but the interest is promising

the new rear belts turned up in the mail today and went straight in.. The engineering has other engagements interstate so it's going to be a race to get everything done for engineering before he heads away for a week..

woooo. engineer posted the mod plate friday so it should be here monday. just off to get the pig weighed today to confirm unladen weight for engineering and thats everything

Wow, you have so earned this one!
thanks for the kind words, motivation and encouragement from you and everyone else in the sty (and mud at large) who contributed in some way, no matter how small. it was without a doubt a group effort.

the engineer got the last peice of the puzzle yesterday, hopefully there is a completed submission waiting in the inbox of the state vehicle modifications authority come monday morning.

2280kg is a step up from the fj55s 1814kg kerb weight but its hard to gauge how it compares to an 80 series. online there are specs betwee 1910kg all the way up to 2410kg for a 7 seater..

granted at least 60% of the body is fresh metal of thicker gauge..a gvm of 2960 leaves a bit of room for addons.

Feels like its a much better height and still fits in the shed (likely it'll fit with the roof rack on too.. )

Went in to get the smaller 32s balanced yesterday and a wheel alignment today.. theres still some driveline vibrations at about 100kph so I'll measure driveshaft/pinion angles when i swap out the diff centres on the weekend.

Got a bunch of fresh steel to start putting some bar work together.. the exposed a$$ end makes me nervous to say the least.
