I’m talking about just the diffs fwd and rear. Knuckles, wheel bearings, axle seals are brand new. I just didn’t touch the diffs. So I’m just thinking of bearings inside there after 313k miles I’ve got to assume they’re getting close??
Yeah, I figured you were, but I wanted to be sure. I don't recall anyone replacing those bearings without a compelling reason...mine were replaced when I regeared.

Sorry, not very helpful.

I wouldn't sweat it get some good mileage on your swap make sure your tire sizing is to your liking and gearing with the ls swap and decided if you like how all that is working together if you need or want a bigger tire or more gearing do the diff rebuild with new gears and bearings then. If fluids have been changed and not alot of slop in pinion preload I wouldn't sweat it

Alright sounds good! I’ve got 35s (315) on it. I’m not real sure on the gearing. Seems fine driving. I need to drive with a laptop plugged in to get a good accurate RPM reading. Not 100% sure how accurate the dash is. Then get GPS speed. Right now I know the mph is about 6mph slow. So I need more data before I re-geared.

Well here she is. Her stance is a bit stink bug. More than I expected. Using Dobinson springs 185 in the rear and 176 in the front. Which is a 3” lift with 110 lbs added I. The front and 3” inch lift with 220 added in the rear. So I figured the delta bumper and equipment would’ve got it to sag some. I did take some measurements today. I think it went from 25” to 24” from bottom of fender to center of rear axle. Not exact measurements. Eyeballing it. It had a half a tank of gas , no third row seats, no gear, and nothing in the gas cans. I bet with gear and 40L of fuel it will settle in a lot more.

Two things I need help with, I really need a fire extinguisher mount. I’ve seen the stick style mounts, which those stick fire extinguishers may have a purpose. I think they maybe lacking for my comfort level as a primary. I wish I had gotten a wits end mount. Anyone know of those floating around? I’ve seen Deltas mount on the third row mount. I think that is kinda in the way for the way I pack my gear. Anyone have any suggestions?

Also, I need some photos of the inside of an ARB bumper that has a winch in it. Mine is a non-winch model. And I want to see what internal bracing if any the winch models have. I know they have the dog ears on the front for the wire rope rollers, but those aren’t necessary for syn rope. Thanks for the help. I really just want to mod mine vs buy a new one. Even though a matching low profile delta front bumper look awesome. Just can’t pull the trigger since I have one already. Thanks!
@Delta VS

This works great for me…….bought small piece of aluminum at hardware store.

That does look good, my boys would have that nozzle busted off in two minutes! Great idea though.
i thought the same thing. even my cupholder back there takes a beating, and its a DeltaVS steel unit bolted to the Delta console.

dang passengers ruining everything

For the fire extinguisher, just do like North did and get some aluminum and span between the two front seat mount locations and make a bracket for a standard fire extinguisher mount or if you want fancy get one of the quick release setups. This is similar to what Witt's End had and IIRC @Pascoscout used to have (I may be wrong as it has been years).

Here are a couple site that sell them, I saved when others talked about mounts - haven't tried any of them.

Suits Toyota Landcruiser 80 Series Fire Extinguisher Bracket - https://kap.industries/products/suitable-for-toyota-landcruiser-80-series-fire-extinguisher-bracket?srsltid=AfmBOoq-ISW5l8-sASMV0b0kp0uC3OfTXGA422x0ugC3OVkZDSsBMH5_ -- This one is similar to what I did as mentioned above with a prior 80 I owned.

I think @Outsane also may have some made but may just be for the stick type extinguisher.

Hope this helps.

I made my own version. Still use it.. though I never got around to painting it. Hasn't rusted yet so all good :) I had contemplated making more but not sure if they would sell.

Hey all been driving the truck around town all winter and no issues. She runs and drives. Did some mild trail riding last fall. Been trying to get ready for some spring camping soon. I’ve got an issue that’s eating at me. When I’m driving and the drivetrain is under load no issues. If I lift off the gas or coast downhill a bit. I get a what sounds like a groaning and gears kinda floating like backlash. It’s most noticeable on the 4Hi/Lo shifter. So I’m wondering if the shaft extension from the trans to center diff has play, the center diff itself needs repair? Or if it don’t matter and keep driving it.

I did open my center diff and I changed the output bearings at front and rear. Bearings inside I left alone. They looked fine. I need to crack the drain plug on center diff and front diff to see if something is in the oil. Any ideas??

I had the same thing, It was the Slip-Yoak

For one of your drive shafts? Could be for sure. I did have them lengthened and shortened respectively, new bearings put on at the end joints. I imagine the slip yoke is where the two sections of driveshafts come together internally. Could be worn for sure. 314k miles on them.

Yes the rear. and yes

Mine is lifted, but I use a double cardon rear driveshaft to eliminate that growling noise.

I have the same issue. I got a double cardon for the front and it lessened. But it’s still there. When I take out the front drive shaft and drive it, the noise goes away. My solution, I’m part timing my front end. It only makes the noise at highway speeds on deceleration.

Overall update on my project. I re did my fuse box because I gooned up by removing the pins multiple times. Wrapped and secured all the engine bay wiring. I put thermal protection on the trans cooler lines. I’m happy how it all turned out.

My @Delta VS rear bumper is supposedly being shipped any day. I can’t wait to get this vehicle outfitted and ready to go.

For the inside. I’m about to pull the carpet out and pressure wash and clean them. Had an incident with some elk meat getting left in there by mistake! Seats will be recovered and foam dressed up. So I’m finally hoping in few weeks to get it wrapped up and ready for fall.

Has anyone used any of the sound proofing products in your project?
I went down this rabbit hole... When I did my swap, I had ripped out the interior.. laid down kilamat and closed cell foam layer.. it helped. Still had heat and sound making it's way in. Went back to searching and gave Second Skin Heat Wave Pro – Jute with Reinforced Foil a try. This helped tremendously. I don't get heat coming in, especially around the trans tunnel area. Sound has also gone down quite a bit. I don't know your exhaust set up but on mine, no cats and to a borla oval muffler. Had the Borla XR-1 muffler on there as my first setup.. it was loud... Second one was stock Tundra muffler (sounded decent.. sounded like a Tundra).. and what I'm running now is the oval Borla. Got the sound back.. not as loud as the XR-1. But anyway, it could be a combination of all 3 layers, but I like where it's at now. AC is a lot more efficient now.

Next time I'm in Wichita to see my parents I'll hit you up. Think for Memorial Day weekend we'll be up there.
