That's a nice light bar, is it supported with all 4 hinge bolts?

Thanks, JohnneyC! It's a Best Top of Co fst that I found in PA a couple of years ago. It's starting to show the fact that it was stored for several years. Looking to get a new one as soon as I recover from all of the recent work...and put this rig to work. I'm even contemplating a swap for a 13BT or 1HZ with an H55...$$

After Klean Strip aircraft stripper process to fender and apron and both running boards applied Permatex rust converter to appropriate needy spots. Hood gets the works tomorrow.

Well, I just bought mine last week. 78 FJ40 Olive. Will post pics as soon as I figure this site out...new here if you can't tell.

As far as work completed this week, it's all pretty minor. Replaced (all OEM) gas tank, sending unit, both side mirrors, rear light lens cover passenger side, all new bulbs across the back, new wipers.

Tomorrow I am installing OEM steel wheels, OEM hub caps, OEM lug nuts, and BFG AT 33x10.50's.

Friday/weekend a buddy and I are installing a vintage air kit. Bought it from CruiserCrap after reading some of his stuff on this site.

I'm hoping that's enough for now? Getting a little pricey $$$ already!

Frame off paint job coming early spring!

BTW, I will be posting 5x 31x10.50R15's on AR 15x8's in the classified section...as soon as I learn this site. Please pass that along if you know of anyone wanting to buy a set. (Sarasota, FL)

Thanks

So I always suspected that my 40 was somewhat underpowered. Confirmed this with a paper clip on my vacuum actuated secondary rod. Made a few linkage tweaks and Whoa! Easily got up to 72 on freeway without issues! Here is a snap just before the final push. 72mph @3100rpm 65mph @ 2900rpm Temp and pressure all good. It is no coincidence that the gas needle is a blurr.

Nice...what app is that?

LOL.. yep, I also have a GPS app for my speed o meter. I was actually really surprised how much faster the cruiser cruises at then I expected.

Ulysse Speed on Android. Speed, daily milage, trip total milage and altimeter. Great on roadtrips.

POST REBUILD: I pulled the air cleaner this morning and hooked my hand throttle back up. So, here are some pictures, sans air cleaner ... And sans oil filler plug, since it's tethered to the air cleaner. In the first picture, you can see a brace I fashioned out of 1/8" aluminum to secure the power steering pump to the front of the intake manifold. Provides Better PS pump stability and better pulley alignment.

Although the engine isn't yet broke in, since I had the air cleaner off, I went ahead and pulled the plugs and performed compression tests... I'll repeat this when I change the oil at 500 miles... You can see the wet and dry tests and the condition of the plugs, here... I don't know what went on with 4 wet... My hip was hurting to much to care... Especially since I will be repeating before long.

So.. I'm happy!! I'll be happier yet when I can take her out... I only drove her home... I haven't tried to stray far from home yet... Still much too hot...
