My old B diesel has been making me deaf... until it died a couple of weeks ago. Time for a change......

1JZ Turbo VVTI is well on the way to running a LOT quieter than that old diesel......

I must say that Tom is being nice...

I will clearly say that engine choice is wrong. I have seen quite a few J40s with 1JZs, 2JZs and even 1UZs. I personally think that these are car engines and were not meant for SUV or off road application.

Not to forget that these engines are very hard to hook(electrically)

Nothing beats an old B series engine in a J40. I am running a 1HZ in my J40 and it is brilliant..

The VVTI 1JZ and 1uz arent necessarily a bad engine choice. The wiring, even with vvti, is fairly simple. And the vvti 1jz 280 tq(379 Nm) comes on at 2400 rpm. Sure there are better applications, but this is unique and should still perform well. Very cool swap Pearly. I'm wrapping up a 1jz swap in my sc300(Toyota Soarer).

I assembled and put the hardtop back piecemeal on for the winter. About half of the bolts lined up with the captive nuts on the top shell.

Especially since it's common knowledge that if you'd just found the energy to force a few more bolts in to get 2/3rds of them fitted you could have safely increased your speed to 67mph (or 46kph with a 21kph headwind).

The stuff I use is a powder that I mix with water and spray on, then rinse off. IIRC it leaves a coating of zinc phosphate. I got it from Eastwood a long time ago, but I don't see it on their site anymore. That's a shame it is good stuff.

Are you talking about Evaporust? Sounds like what someone told me about. I'm in the market for a good product.

I dropped mine off with Justin at Redline to fix some of the stuff that should have been correct when I did my Proffitt's build. Wish I went with Redline in the first place. Pretty excited to have it running like it should.

No, this stuff came in a 5 lb bag. I bought it in like '00 when I did my frame off restoration.

I have not been able to find it for a while, not that I've been looking that hard, but it seams that they don't make it anymore.

KleenStrip has some of the zinc coating stuff at HD. Spray bottle, or jug of it. POR15 sells their own brand too, more expensive but same thing. Spray it on, let it work, rinse it off. Dry the part completely, prime.
