Ha thanks for getting back to me. For the life of me I don’t understand why no one makes a replacement needle but I guess if it’s not a problem then you don’t have a problem.
Got my gluing done this afternoon, used JB Weld Superweld extreme...
Wow. That is reaching WAY back! Probably JBWeld but I have a tough time remembering what I did yesterday. The needle is still on there but I’m going with a Dakota Digital display on it this year.
Good luck!

On the road: The tires are waaaay quieter than I expected. I've read that others reported that these are a quiet mud tire and that's exactly what I found. I hear the mechanical symphony from the 40 over any tire noise...
Got the skid plate mounted yesterday. With the tub off it looks like the tank is sitting about an inch high in the rear but I will have to wait to see. It will be easy enough to modify but will affect the hitch receiver.
I think the wheels are the Wagon Wheels for the 60 series cruisers. No idea about the tires but looks like a BFG KO2 in 32x11.5r15 would be about the same.
Here is that combo on my 62
I got the Vintage Air Gen IV SureFit with the Ultra-High-Performance Blower

It's great, really powerful, but I do live in Kuwait where temperatures in the summer hit over 50 degrees...
I just picked up the aluminum skid plate from Jim yesterday and will post some pictures when I get it mounted. As you can see the tank would mount easily from underneath. The skid plate replaces the two aluminum straps and is very sturdy. As a...
What a beautiful vehicle in my favorite color. How does the air-conditioning keep up with the heat? I'm contemplating the Vintage Air in my build.
Thanks for sharing the pictures and story of your build.
Just wanted to share some photos the builder sent me this morning of the car. There is still a snag list of things to do but the car is around 99% done and I'm flying out this week to check it in person before they ship it over.
The FJ is a...
Just a quick update, my FJ is nearly done, today was the first test drive and a few issues popped up but nothing major. The color is looking amazing though.
The Downey tank is nice and I believe Jim is having another batch made. I’ve removed my original 1967 tank and am just going to run the aftermarket one. Picking up the skid plate tomorrow.
The submerged fuel pump to the left is something I...
When I did the initial (partial) restoration of my family FJ40 in 2020, the main goal was always to regain the confidence to take it in any distance trip and be ready for any adventure.
Since then, in 2021 I took it in a trip across the Pyrenees...
It’s tight. I think I have a finger width between the passenger side head and firewall. Not hitting but close. I have it pretty far forward as well. My electric fan barely fits between the radiator (stock& stick location) and pulleys. It’s worth...
I’ve been trying to come up with a solution for the transfer case linkage and the 5.3 solved it for me yesterday. There’s a little ’L’ shaped bracket on the head to protect the fuel injection rail on the driver’s side that wasn’t needed so I made...
Thanks guys for the advice. The drill methods I started and promptly injected some of the expensive stuff. My lord…the rubber dust is radioactive.
I’m grabbing a buddy’s air hammer and that may work, but I am going to cut the shackle in half...
