Finally replaced the turn signal switch, which was broken off after wife insisted that the 4th of July parade decorations include wrapping the steering wheel with crete paper. It unraveled during the parade, wrapped around the turn signal, and on the first full turn broke it off. Grrrrr

Not the best photo, but I finished stripping the old stuff and painted my new to me tailgate. Now to mount the hinges tomorrow.

Picked up the new one!
09/79 production (4.10s, tank in truck, etc...) :)
Straight & unmolested AZ rig, even has all the EGR stuff still hooked up (no emissions testing here).
Can't wait to get it registered & start PM.

Sadly had to put it in storage. Either that or it's an Ohio winter

Ordered my new radiator today, only $250!

I got to drive the 40 around the block :bounce:

Looks like tomorrow I will start rewiring some of the ignition wires in my cruiser. Went to go to town today, and sparks shot out of the fuse panel and the ignition wires melted. :( Hopefully I can find the short quickly tomorrow and replaced the damaged wires and get her running again quickly. It's going to snow this weekend a lot and down low and I'm really wanting to go play in it.

Pulled and sold my 2f, cleaned up my 2fe parts, order some more parts, have a few more parts to order tomorrow so I can get all the accessories bolted on.

Took the lovely Mrs. skidplate for a ride in the cruiser, first time to run the heater this season!

Autometer 2697 Tachometer

This was my latest project. The tach was found on Amazon, an Autometer 2697. Installation was very simple. I used a 2" hole saw and the thing fits perfectly. I also painted the bezel silver to somewhat match the gauge cluster. And on that note, I chose this tach because it only goes to 5K (resolution is good) and the font/design somewhat matches the rest of the gauges. The headlight switch was relocated to an existing hole that used to be used for a winch-related setup. Not sure if it's going to stay.

And with respect to the red color at night, I used EL wire on the rest of the gauge cluster. The tach comes with a regular bulb that puts off an orangish light. They provide two plastic things you can put over the bulb, one green and the other red. Green looks awful so I went with the red, and it is growing on me.

I know it's far from a stock look and a lot of you would never take a hole saw to your dash. But I just wanted to share what worked for me.

That looks great :) im gonna be using blue EL wire to make my guage cluster match my radio head.... plus I like the way blue light looks at night :D

Real nice job u did there. Is your tach taken off of the alternator?

Thanks Vossie. The tack pick-up is at the negative terminal of the ignition coil. I think it's on the alternator for diesel engines.

Wow that bypass is clean. Good job
