Antique Tags for my 1974 FJ40!!

got my Pennsylvania Antique tags for my 74 FJ40 last night!!!

 no more registration ever
 no more state inspection ever

 $80 a year insurance!!!!

I had to submit 4 pics - 1 from each side and the truck has to look "stock". Pennsylvania is a tough state to get antique plates in as I have heard they carefully check everything from rims to hubcaps. My pics looked great even though I have the wrong turn signals, front bumper and a 4 inch lift!!

I am so excited!!

Sno Dawg

Here is the link for the pics - see if you can figure out what else is not stock for a 74.

boost/EGT gauges are installed :)

Started working on the project after a few years off.

Mocked up my front/rear spring over and measured up my drive train for a transfer case rotation. Dropped off my Downey adapter at the machine shop for modification.

Crossing my fingers that it works.......

Fixed the coolant leak from the union that holds the temperature sender in the head.

Also made roll cage mounts for my gps and my emergency beacon. Use the Ram Mount mounts combined with a QuickFist. Coupled the mount and the clamp together with a piece of 1.5"x1/8" steel.

Stereo time!

I wanted some tunes, but didn't want to cut the 40 up, so I improvised.

I bought some black shelving from Home Depot, and slammed it together Saturday afternoon.

The good:
It was easy.
It was cheap. (the box)
It's modular, I can take it out in less than 5 minutes.
It sounds GREAT!
It doubles as a center console

The bad:
It's cheesy :p
It's particle board and won't last.

I'm going to re-do the majority of the cage this winter, and just wanted something to get me through the summer. This should be just what I was after

I'm impressed with technology, I haven't bought a stereo in probably 20 years.. This one is blue tooth ready, satellite ready, USB port, iPod ready... tons of features for ~$200ish bucks..

Kenwood HU, (4) MB Quart marine 6-1/2" speakers, etc. - all for <$550

Hi All:

Went 'wheeling on Saturday! :D

Lots more snow snow on the trails than I expected for May!  :grinpimp:

Rig ran well, but need to install that TBI kit! ;)

Regards,

Alan

Tunes!

I bought a Kenwood CD player and a pair of speakers way back when I got Marvin, and finally got around to installing them. I found a crossover in a junkyard, hooked up the 5" Pioneer Marine door coax speakers as midrange/tweeters and put an 8" bass box I had behind the driver seat. The Kenwood is sitting on a towel in the glovebox until I figure out how I'm going to mount it in there. The 12v is connected into the little plug on the inside of the glovebox.

It plays MP3 discs, of which I have one, and has a plug for an IPod of which I have kids with IPods, so maybe they'll wheel with me if I let them DJ.

No pics, but it sounds like this:

Got my Cruiser painted. A fellow muder, melloj123 painted it for me and did a beautiful job, even better then I expected. Now I have to get new emblems and a few other things.

got tired of broken door handles...just broke the third one in 5 years on the passenger side. so, got some steel bar....with a little welding, milling, grinding, filing, and drilling......made my own. still a little rough..but it works fine.

Had my dual exhaust moved a bit to allow my new auxillary tank to fit and built new half-doors from an old set of '72 doors I had behind the shop. A little padded trim on the top edge and I'll be done (sorta). Getting ready for the Rubithon!

Why? Now you can only drive your 40 one day a week. Or to the repair shop, LC meeting or a parade.
