Picked up some 1977 disc axles for the 1962 fj40. Will be getting the rotors turned and new calipers. Could free them up, but why take the chance. Rear brakes look freshly rebuilt, but will need some cleaning up. All the rubber parts look new. Will sand and paint them black of course.

You'll love em... A very worthwhile upgrade.:grinpimp:

Installed new Alt. pulled the water pump ( broke bolt while changing Alt). Put Guages in. Trying to figure out how to fix the PO's power steering hack job.:hhmm:

Replaced 2 worn out vacuum shift hoses on my 3 speed transfer case and also replaced the passenger wing window gasket. I'm so stoked to finally have my 4wd up and running again!!!!!!

Took my diamond plate off to get it powder coated. Put truck bed liner on all areas where plates are ,so I don't get rust underneath. Now , just waiting to get it back from powder coating.:bounce::bounce2:

This arvo I took that annoying rattle outta the spare wheel carrier!!:bang:

I'm seeing my lawyer now.

Changing to angled-nipples isn't enough to avoid breaching my patent!

are those for sale and if so how much do they cost ?

The rattle drives me crazy too. I need some for my 75 and tried day and night looking through hardware stores for the right size. I don't own a cnc machine or have the cash to have some made. Very nice job. They look like their made of brass and wondering if through time if the brass will be too soft of a metal to keep the integrity of their shape. Also noted that you have a new spare tire. Which brand is that?

My shorty came with the grease nipple, so that's not factory then? Easy enough to drill out and tap in the lathe if not.
My carrier had no bushes in it so I drilled the carrier shell out to 23mm in the drill press, and turned the bushes to 23.2mm outside, 20mm inside. The scrap brass bar was only $5kg, cheap and easy job. Maybe brass isn't the ideal material for wear but I'd say it'll last for many years, I can make some more when they wear out.

My spare is a BF Goodrich KM1 235/85 R16 Sepuku.

And I made my bushes to last forever and I think they will do that because you're not continually swinging the tyre-carrier back and forth (and vibration won't ever cause wear unless there is excessive clearance in a bush). Furthermore ... my material was "phosphor-bronze" which is specifically designed for uses as bushes (having low-wear properties).

Tyre-carrier bushes see FAR less use than door hinge bushes.

Sepuku the spelling has been changed......but am I the only one that finds that a bit strange ?

Worked on designing a gauge cluster to go in the DIN sized hole some jerk put there in place of the OEM radio in 2002. (I am that jerk).

As it's drawn up it will have similar lines and relief to the OEM 40 series cluster and tachometer. I'm going to run a 2-1/16" tach, 2-1/16" short sweep vacuum gauge (yes I found one), and a 2-1/16" short sweep voltmeter. Yes they will all fit with some custom work.

Once I make some progress on actually putting it together there will be a real thread on it.

Finished my home brew SBC motor mount brackets.
Much welding sunburn on the arms:p

still kicking myself for not ordering those door bushings months ago .

they were worth every penny :)

ive a '77 hj45 pretty original, carpeted roof ( fiberglass ) and carpeted door trims, a/c added but looks like it belongs :) and a hole, right in the middle of the dash ... :@ i'd LIKE to put the original stereo in. but ill have to put another in atm, when i find an original ill hide the modern one ... - modern one is going in thursday

The skid plate nuts (welded in the frame) had seen their last day. I drill out the old, enlarged the hole, and tack welded in new "shouldered" 10mm nuts. The shouldered nuts were dropped into place from inside the frame so that that the nut is flush with the frame where the skid plate mounts.

After a little clean up and paint. The skid plate bolts up again.
