Not for nothin but who cares about articulation on a tie rod ? I like Barnes & Ruff Stuff, I also like Parts Mike for this type of stuff. Good service & fast.
I’ve never seen pads under the tank in any of my crusiers 1976-1978 year rigs ,they did have strips of carpet like stuff on top of the tank but nothing underneath. Interesting hmm.
I have a warn winch mount that mounted on top of the frame rails you had to remove the tow hooks to mount it to the crusier
not sure if it was fj40 specific or for a Jeep CJ. Fit perfect
I have since cut it up a bit and dropped it down in...
No need for the ballast resistor on the Pertronix kit. It runs on full battery voltage.
On a stock points set up the initial start is at 12v through the starter soliniod. Once it is running the ballast resistor drops the voltage to a lower...
You can move the axle back by drilling a new hole in the spring saddle and just move the the axle back dropping the cantering pin into the new hole. , but check your drive shaft can handle the extra length of moving axle back an inch or so
bump an ancient thread see date guys
i am in the process of grabbing another program.
lol
the Toyota forklift epc is also interesting for grabbing 2F parts.
instead of a diode you can use a dummy light also.
I wired up my oem brake dash light as the dummy light now I’ll know when my alt ever stops charging or I left the ignition turned on big red light glowing on the dash. Lol. I bypassed the amp...
I am happy with my 37 or 38.5 swampers with SM465 and 4.11 gears and still using the early 3spd t-case goes fine on the highway works good off-road with stock width 40 axles. SOA ,I’m happy only thing I would change would be to swap in an Orion...
That might work. I had done that in the past and as the springs relaxed over the years I ended up adding a leaf back into the spring pack.. It’s worth a try to see if they get softer For sure. It may not drop much in height at all At first.either...
Sorry. Typo. I meant leaf springs. Your shackle need more angle so when the springs are compressed they can swing. If straight all of that force goes straight into the frame. Like below
I don’t need to see the whole spring you can tell by looking at them and the arc or arch built into them. The only a lift spring achieves its desired lift is to beef them up or stiffen them up IE increase load varying capacity. The more lift...
Those lift springs always look brutally stiff to me.
the stock springs are a pretty nice ride. I always prefer to do a SOA lift. It can be done fairly easy and still keep the rig low
with very little modification this was my buddys $500 dollar...
Mostly likely because you’re old. If you have owned it for 20 years ,Hahaha
I drove the crap out of mine when I was 20 now I find it quite bumpy bump bump. I am getting old and lazy I don’t even like shifting gears anymore. I never noticed the...
Easiest is a later year axle or just upgrade the knuckles out from a Toyota mini truck
or 4Runner or from any later year 40 series 60 series 70 series ,
and for birfs maybe look for some chromoly ones.
I drive mine anywhere I drove from Vancouver BC Canada to Pismo Beach California ripped around the dunes and then drove it back home. Approximately 2300 miles go for it. It will be a blast
