Got the fenders, front bib, and hood fit up. Everything fit nicely. The radiator housing is at the powdercoater, and I can drop that all in once I get it back. That leaves fuel system, wiring, and fuel injection. Along with routing my plumbing for the ARB airlocker air hoses, and diff breathers.

Getting closer…slowly.

Looks amazing!

Pulled another 40 home this past weekend. Hadn't been on the road since 90'. Carb and gas tank were dry and the starter was stuck. I put in a battery, smacked the starter with a hammer pulled the plugs and put some marvel mystery oil in they cylinders for good measure. Hit the key it spun right over. Put the plugs back in and dumped some gas down the carb - it fired right off on the first turn.

got the fj45lv up from Southern Oregon and started assessing the damages,(pulled out the most ancient electric fuel pump I,ve ever seen) got Herculiner for my 72 fj40 and purchased a PS pump bracket so I can get on with my PS conversion. Oh yeah, bought a paint sprayer and some air powered shears for future projects. Figured out how I'm going to frame in my seats in the 40 but haven't acted on it yet.

Did it last week. Info here.

The tub is ready for paint. But before I do that I had to (had to? whaa?) line the under side with 1/2" Dynamat directly over the fresh rubber under coat. To insure that it stays there I thermo-formed a piece of 093 thick, black, high density polyethelene and pressed it against the Dynamat with a floor jack and 2 X 4, then drilled through the floor and secured it all with bolts. This pretty much replicates the insulation factor in a new vehicle.

Bang on the floor and the sound is more like a dull THUD, not the tinney, tin, tin it was before. Once I get the AC installed the summer ride should be pretty cool.

The cost wasn't to bad since I bought the materials from myself (nice perk) at deep discounts. At retail anyone could do this for about $300 in about 3 hours. The 093 hdpe is actually thicker than necessary and .062 would do just as well. To mold the hdpe all one needs is a good heat gun, a 2 X 4 and a little imagination.

Picked up some out of round steelies a while back. I had straightened the big dents, striped and painted them now some final tweaking (I did not bust out the feeler gage, but to the eye they look straight enough) so I will be ready when I save up enough for the new skins.

^ that's awesome. Are steelies really that easy to fix?
are you bending them with that crescent wrench?

Thanks, not too bad. The guy I bought these from was ready to scrap em. The crescent worked fine - but a longer handle or breaker of some type would of helped. Started +/- 0.250" and I recon they are +/-0.05" . Make sure to check both iner and outer rim.

The real test will be when the poor tire guy tries to balance them.

Pulled the tires off my mini truck, swapped them onto the '40 and drove it to work today! The DIY beadlocks I typically run on the 40 will be broken down, sealed and have 4 oz of zinc plated bb's inserted for balancing.

Received and installed new Fuel pump. Drove it to work for first time, just to show it off a bit... hehe. Rebuilt front Turn Signal wiring. Trying to get inspection worthy.

Looking really good man! I love bright yellow! Are those aluminum rims painted black, or steel wheels?

Getting ready to install new rear forward facing seat. Had to make some risers to mount seat to. Weather is great in Arizona right now for a desert night run.:grinpimp::clap::flipoff2:

For the '63:
-Burned in motor and tranny mounts
-Dropped in the 307 2bbl and 3 speed that has a Downey topshift cover on it
-Took off all the column shift parts
-Removed the stock brake and clutch masters and all hydraulic lines
-Retrofitted a dual pot dual drum brake master (without assist) and a better condition clutch master I had lying around
-Found a better slave cylinder in my parts pile, have that ready to go in
-Pulled my best early steering wheel from the pile, JB welded the cracks, started smoothing out for paint
-General small things

For the '69:
-Thought about how fun wheeling would be if it were done :bang:

Almost completed my drop down tailgate

My fj had no top or tailgate when I picked it up and I just couldn't see spending $500-600 on a drop down tailgate so I built my own. I plan on running a soft top and had left over metal from replacing quarter panels and all the usual rust areas.

I pick up some tailgate cables... I'll put those on this week and then I'm ready for primer and wet sanding.

changed spring bushings - see avatar for most mangled

some quality-of-life improvements (de-rattling, un-flapping the softtop sides, new roll bar padding)

and some fixing of crappy welds by a vendor who is now-gone-out-of-business  which resulted in caster adjustment, toe adjustment and better ride :D

I had great helpers :bounce: :bounce2:
