There are tricks that can be done to get rings to seat better. One is to pull long hills in almost too high of a gear, not quite lugging, but almost. Then, engine brake down the same hill in *almost too low of a gear, letting the engine slow the rig down.
I've also seen a pinch of AJAX powder or Bar Keeper's Friend cleaning powders being dropped into a spark plug hole, used as a mild abrasive which will let the ring and cylinder surface get a better seal once worn in a bit. The powder will be cycled out of the motor and will leave through the exhaust, and won't harm anything.
These are old tricks from long dead hot rodders I knew in a different life, but they've worked for me in the past.
As always, read up on it yourself before you try stuff. But it could save you some labor if it works for you. Worst case scenario, you end up pulling it apart and replacing rings anyway.

My miller works great for whatever sized wire once the adjustments are made. It’s an older 211 but not the oldest.
Prepping the 40 and Camp trailer for a 4 days wheeling/fly fishing trip to the Serria's. We will have a total of 4 - FJ40's. 1 - FJ60 and maybe a FJ55. Its going to be a Great trip

I think some require a smaller liner as well. Little hazy at the moment, but I feel like I read something about that on my Esab.

I think that's likely the issue. It's not worth changing. I'm pretty sure my liners ok. Its pretty much an industrial machine. It was lightly used when I bought it. It had the original spool on it. . The company the guy worked for bought it for him, so he could make some tooling from home.

Over the weekend I napped to watch some videos on how to contour heater hoses without kinks. I was running this effective yet ugly hose with elbows to vent the valve cover. I had some left over 3/4” heater hose and gave it a try.
Basically you bend the hose with some internal material (copper wire and smaller hose in this case), heat it to around 300° F (either in an oven or using a heat gun) then rapidly cool it in a bucket of water. My results were not a clean as the videos but with some playing around I think I could get there. Overall, pretty happy and much better than before

Nice. I have had mixed success. That hose specifically eludes me. It still kinks after a couple days in the truck.
I found a guy here in Bogota that repairs Vintage Air systems. For $160. USD he inspected, repaired and replaced parts. Drained the old freon, got the compressor running and the Frau is happy. Not that we have hot days here at this altitude, but we travel a lot around Colombia

When l get time to weld/fit it, in about a month l'll certainly post a video of the sound...before/after......things are all work no play right now, as l'm trying to get finished up for summer....
