This spring has been cold, rainy with some flooding. If the temps were above 70 then it was raining. Finally on Friday temps were going to be above 75 and no rain. I was able to drive the 60 mile round trip to work and back. When I got home I had a few beers and decided to take the 40 up the hill. I only have few trails cleared enuff so it woudn't get trail pin stripes. It surprised me it made it up 1 trail, that usually requires a rear locker at the minimum. I attribute that to the drivers skills:). These springs need more trail time to get them to loosen up. It went up the Osage until it lost traction.

Finally got it on the road - can’t believe it actually works for how long and how torn apart it has been. I had to flex it a little just to see if the tires would clear: since I made the quarter panels, the lip around the fender is a little bigger than factory. 33x10.50 and it clears no problem

As the op found out, stick welding is to hot for body sheetmetal. He should be able to find a cheap 110v mig with gas. I considered one, because my miller 250 didnt like pushing 023 thru the whip. I found with the proper settings, I could get 030 to work fine.
Miller and other manufacturers sell a small push wheel for the .023 wire.

Yep, I tried the proper wheels. I tried it multile times, it would eventually birdnest b4 it went into the whip. I made sure the whip was as straight as possible. I got tied of F-ing with it.

Drove back from Boise Idaho to Ketchum Idaho on this rigs maiden roadtrip voyage post engine rebuild. Has a compression issue unfortunately i'm gunna roll with, it has to do with the rings not seating properly. 700 miles in, so it was it is. The rig did great though and went 70 the whole way! maybe ill do the rings in 10000 miles or so when i feel like it.
its my first project, didn't even know how to change the oil on a car when is started. lessons learned.

Rest of the week: Chasing the burning wire smell in my dash and installing a new stereo, and diagnosing charging issue.

Rocker assembly going on this weekend. hopefully will solve valves falling out of adjustment issue (previous rocker tower had a crack in it) and help compression a bit.

Still fighting, and making music about it.

Dan
