@Green Bean big undertaking with seemingly routine maintenance parts…this is a great feeling of accomplishment in my book and inspires longevity for your FJ40 each time you start it up…👏 👏

I was really looking forward to doing some Land Cruisey things like the MT-90 trans fluid and my @shipmag hose…. but had a side track today…

My wife said “. Make believe it’s the FJ40”. …😳

Looks like you replaced your water pump pressure tank for your house. Every bit as neat and tidy as your Sniper project.

@Green Bean Thank you for your nice words. I really don’t mind a project like this but…my preference is to plan for it ahead of time, be fully stocked on supplies and dive in. Ran out this morning and picked up over $160.00 in brass fittings. The pressure tank was near $500 and The T for the bottom was $40.00. Since I have ZERO knowledge about water velocity and pressure, I used the recommended T at 1 1/4” or I could have made it in copper. I have a bunch of copper fittings over the years (40) from projects all over the house. I really like water pressure. That old bladder tank was about 24 years old and over the week started losing pressure and volume. Had no choice today as it was less than a stream at the sinks and showers

By the way, the Sniper is running great. I still cannot get the IAC to stay a 2-12%. It always returns to 0. On the other hand, starting it brings a smile to my face. Turn the key, wait 5 seconds for fuel pressure and the computer boot-up then engage the starter….it starts instantly. By comparison…if it sat for a few weeks, starting was full choke, crank for 10-15 seconds 4 different times and by the 4th try it would cough and start . Here’s a tidbit : of the 25’ roll of 3/8 fuel line, there’s about 2’ left. Had to trash a few. Some times the proper bending tool would kink the bend or the 37 degree flare tool would smash the edge of the flare when I forgot to lube it before flaring

Celebrated fresh birf grease with a springtime mushroom hunt. A few of my favorite things.

That takes a bit of courage in my line of thinking…. Locally a story of a mushroom hunter who was looking for Morels? and something about cooking them versus raw makes them delicious or deadly… TV news showed the person on camera in the hospital and they looked as if they had been run over by a Toyota Sequoia. I would have never thought you can be so affected . I love mushrooms but I get Portobello from the supermarket and live under my threshold for adventure. What is the mushroom in your photo?

My grandfather came here from the old country, Slovakia, he hunted and fished in the Adirondack Mtns to help feed his family along with that he gathered wild mushrooms and knew all the safe ones from the deadly. My father learned or retained about half of that , and sadly I know of none although I have a friend I go with that knows the safe varieties here in the Sangre de Christo Mtns. There's a lot of old hippies where I live and the psilocybin variety is pretty popular with them.

I know of 2 mushroom varieties in my area that are plentiful and delicious, and I don't mistake them for anything else. Otherwise I don't mess with wild ones. I get my psilocybin fungi from a trusted source and haven't had a problem. 🤠

I've put about 1k miles on it since completion. Today Idid a once over and checked to make sure bolts were torqued. Adjusted the steering box, and put on the soft top.

Spent the day refurbishing the front signal lights and installing new side mirrors. I am curious for those who have used these mirrors mounted in the hinge bolt holes. Where do you position the passenger side mirror? The driver's side was not to hard to adjust for my blind spot, but the passenger side is totally blocked by the window frame. I have tried a few different positions but none really work.

Morel. Fortunately not easily confused with others.

gotta adjust the float level
Done that, now it's sitting too low. Slightly better than overfilling I think. Starts right up, it's got a miss, hope that'll tune out tomorrow.

Looks good. Did you consider adding a dedicated ground from the light housing to the frame?
