Here's mine hard at work this past weekend!

Finished up the replacement of the steering rod ends and set the alignment. Took her out for a spin and the first sunshine on the refinished roof! Check those two off the list. Next up is rear view mirrors and cleaning up the front turn indicators. I also feel the need to get an original bumper. At lease these items are "minimally mechanical".

All in good time.

I got my OE front bumper delivered to Auto Nation (can't stand them) for around $150 iirc. Or you could haul a cord of wood to your next camp out...

Point of reflection. When you own a certain type of vehicle (like a Land Cruiser), you become ever so aware of similar vehicles. Since getting one over 4 years ago, I know of 4 owners (one owner has two LCs) less than 30 min from my house. I believe there are still a few more within the 30 min range too, I just haven't met them yet.
Yesterday while up in Saratoga, NY, I passed a 68 or earlier blue 40 without a top with out of state tags. Had I a moment to goof off, I would've spun around to see if I could catch the owner and talk cruiser stuff.
In a nutshell, its kinda awesome that these aging relics are still moving along under their own power and aren't just for show at the local ice cream shop (but they surely are up to the task of going on an ice cream run). I always get looks when driving, and there are the occasional jeep owner wave's, and its quite common for someone to strike up a conversation when ever I park.
Thanks again to all of the vendors who help us enjoy this habit of choice like Kurt @cruiseroutfitters, Mark @Marksoffroad, George@ValleyHybrids, Dave@4PlusProducts and many more vendors.

Picked up some free wood courtesy of NGrid. Drove it a bit to see how it handled fully loaded. The ride was smoother, but oh my god was it slow. It has a rebuilt F.5 and normally is pretty peppy, but not with that wood.

Man I love mustard 40s
yo también. I'm debating if/when in the future I do a whole hog resto if I go back to Rustic with all of the badass gold pin stripes (OG), go mustard or go Olive (baby poo, but in a good way). Long way until I saddle up that donkey though.

The smiles the truck attracts & the photos folk take makes the joy of owning 1 a little sweeter..l'm finding turning down offers to buy or swap...a kick too....

Exhaust system finished. D and D muffler in Lancaster did the work. Right side crosses in front of the oil pan and into a collector on the drivers’ side. From there back 3” pipe into a Flowmaster muffler. Should sound… interesting.

Don't you just love it when everything is going to plan...Until it isn't. Changed out all of the hose clamps to OE and was just finishing up when I noticed coolant gushing onto the garage floor. Broken inlet pipe on rear heater core.. Approximately 2 gallons of coolant spilled. Can this core be saved?

A good radiator shop will fix that right up. Just find a steel tube that you can slip snugly inside both sides and they can solder both sides to the tube. You could even cut an 1/8” off the piece in your hand so that when they’re done, the repair will be the stock length.

My radiator guy is an old school craftsman with callouses 1/8” thick and has done more amazing things than that
for me with a soldering iron.

Friday I got stuck in mine by trying to straddle that mudhole. I had went through it the other direction. Turns out a 37 degree side angle loses traction on the uphill side.
Saturday I pulled it out with my red devil come along.
Sunday was mud removal day
Tuesday I hauled a rear tine tiller in the back to a friend's house for them to use.

I'm thinking uprising from 27s to 31s and putting some tiedowns in the back floor.

A V8 looks huge on the narrow frame
I agree, especially an LS engine. It takes up quite a bit more space than my SBC.

When does the body go on, @Pitter Patter ?

My update: finally got the master cylinder and a few brake lines installed, 7 tries later. Ha.

Body is sitting over it right now. The wife helped me maneuver the chassis under the tub last night, bless her heart. Still have to work out a few details before I set it on there.

Hopefully we don’t get the big earthquake before then.

Oops, I tagged the wrong person. The body looks great. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping for no earthquakes. I can see the concern. Do you have a build thread?
