Installed a different shift instruction plaque to more accurately reflect 4-speed with vacuum actuated 4WD and under-the-dash Hi/Lo shift. Thank you to @shipmag for making these and the great buying experience.

I used that fluid in my 40 last time I serviced the transmission. 👍 updated the drain plugs to the 10mm Allen head at the same time.

Skip over the first few pages of soul searching and self doubt 😂.

Dressed up under the hood: Replaced solid band stainless hose clamps with OE double wire ones (still available from Toyota). (On a side note, I was recently under the hood of our Lexus and noticed that they still use the same clamps). This seemingly simple project hit a hiccup when one of the inlet nipples on the rear heater broke off and puked fresh new coolant all over the place. Sourced a backup rear heater core while I mailed off the original for repair. The “while your in there” list included replacing the upper and lower thermostat housings with OE (still available from dealer); new OE upper & lower T-Stat housing bolts; new OE thermostat & gaskets; heater shutoff valve (@ToyotaMatt); a shiny rocker cover from Nate (@mattressking), OE rocker cover gasket and a OE firewall heater hose bracket from Dallas (@dmaddox) and hard fuel line brackets from Paul (@Ackcruisers). Also, added a couple of M6 nutserts at firewall to accommodate screws for heater hose shield at front passenger footwell. Also, replaced plug and coil wires with OE. Burped her with the burping funnel and put her to bed. Thank you Matt, Nate, Dallas and Paul.

@Green Bean big undertaking with seemingly routine maintenance parts…this is a great feeling of accomplishment in my book and inspires longevity for your FJ40 each time you start it up…👏 👏

I was really looking forward to doing some Land Cruisey things like the MT-90 trans fluid and my @shipmag hose…. but had a side track today…

Do you have the hose clamp part numbers? My next-ish task is to replace all the cooling hoses.

10X 96112-10250 (HEATER HOSE CLAMP?)

05/29/2024 Edit:
I believe that 96111-10580 is the larger 58 mm radiator hose that fits on the hose at the bottom of the water pump and on each side of the "Tee" connection. (Total of 3 required). The other radiator hoses are a bit smaller (50mm) and go at the upper radiator, upper water pump and lower radiator. (Total of 3 required). The water pump bypass hose uses 2 hose clamps, part # 96112-10330 (33mm). I think that when I first ordered my clamps I didn't order the 58mm (96111-10580) and I had to go back an order those.

I hope this helps.

Looks like you replaced your water pump pressure tank for your house. Every bit as neat and tidy as your Sniper project.

@Green Bean Thank you for your nice words. I really don’t mind a project like this but…my preference is to plan for it ahead of time, be fully stocked on supplies and dive in. Ran out this morning and picked up over $160.00 in brass fittings. The pressure tank was near $500 and The T for the bottom was $40.00. Since I have ZERO knowledge about water velocity and pressure, I used the recommended T at 1 1/4” or I could have made it in copper. I have a bunch of copper fittings over the years (40) from projects all over the house. I really like water pressure. That old bladder tank was about 24 years old and over the week started losing pressure and volume. Had no choice today as it was less than a stream at the sinks and showers

By the way, the Sniper is running great. I still cannot get the IAC to stay a 2-12%. It always returns to 0. On the other hand, starting it brings a smile to my face. Turn the key, wait 5 seconds for fuel pressure and the computer boot-up then engage the starter….it starts instantly. By comparison…if it sat for a few weeks, starting was full choke, crank for 10-15 seconds 4 different times and by the 4th try it would cough and start . Here’s a tidbit : of the 25’ roll of 3/8 fuel line, there’s about 2’ left. Had to trash a few. Some times the proper bending tool would kink the bend or the 37 degree flare tool would smash the edge of the flare when I forgot to lube it before flaring
