Awesome. One of my favorite rigs on the forum too.Returned from Montana(trout fishing) and dove right in on the forty. Things been leaking like a son-of-a-bitch for several months. Turns out the front output shaft cove had loosened up a bit. Torqued it down and now waiting to see. Also started to dig into the timing cover gasket leak. Damn thing has been getting the best of me for a year now. Wrenching, bourbon and cigars equate to good times with my sister and brother.

Love the ingenuity.Cut a slice out of the driver side front drum, this side went much quicker after having learned some "don't-do-it-this-way" things. The window in the drum allowed access to the frozen adjusters on the wheel cylinders. I had to adjust them with a chisel and hammer.

Probably the wrong thread. Deserves its own. Strange that the cooling system was holding a vacuum when you pulled the cap. If it’s leaking expect the radiator to be at atmosphere. Did you replace all your hoses when you did the water pump?. I think I would look first at all the hoses since they’re the most likely culprit. Do you have a cap on the oil cooler nipple on the water pump.? How did that cap Look?Well crap! After my 150 mile trip yesterday I found a big puddle of coolant under the 40 this morning. Didn't have any leaks or cooling issues yesterday and the good ol 2F worked well. Ran the heaters all day and didn't notice any coolant in the snow or pavement when parked. Today the radiator reservoir was low on coolant, the radiator cap made a loud sucking noise when I removed it and I was about a quart low on coolant, about equal to what was on the floor. Radiator, cap and hoses are all in good shape and don't appear to be leaking but the top of the timing gear cover looks wet. Can't really get my hand in there to check further but I'm thinking the water pump might be the culprit. Installed it back on 04 and never had a problem with it. Isn't there a weep hole on them that leaks when it goes out? Appreciate any advice before tearing into this. Thanks!
Thanks! All hoses and clamps were replaced within the last 24 months, all are tight. No oil cooler on my 2F though and the pump has no hose nipples for one.Probably the wrong thread. Yes, on the underside of the snout of the pump, just behind the pulleys where you can't see it or take a good picture of itIsn't there a weep hole on them that leaks when it goes out?
Top up fluids, get it good and hot and shut it off. If it’s going to leak intermittently, it’ll most likely leak a few minutes after it’s shut off. Thanks! Anyone know where I can get one of these Cowl vent delete covers?

I removed the cover, installed a thin sheet on top of a bead of silicone, and then reinstalled the cover. It still looks like there’s a vent but it doesn’t leak.Anyone know where I can get one of these Cowl vent delete covers?

Sorry my 5-76 water pump does not have this nipple, engine never had an oil cooler or even a clutch fan to my knowledge. Can't get a good picture because the PS pump and the alternator are in the way. I'm going to try bikersmurfs suggestion and see what happens. Thanks!
Sure, but remember, if it is the water pump, once it starts to leak at the weephole it won't last longI'm going to try bikersmurfs suggestion and see what happens. Thanks!
