That is a beauty. I had my "gas cap" "Aquablasted" on Friday. A very different animal from the same era..

I'm going to be needing a new key blank for that.

While on the subject of Toyota caps I temporarily borrowed the valve cover from my other HJ45 to clean and noticed that the oil filler caps differ between the two vehicles.

This one is from engine no H52927 original to vehicle HJ45019958, according to registration first liable for licence fees on 1978-01-01.

This one is from engine no H41769 original to vehicle HJ45011343 which was first on an unknown date registered in 1977

These were assembled CKD in South Africa, by Toyota SA.

An interesting little variation which may interest guys such as yourself who make a study of these things.

This was a great weekend!!! I installed the seats with 2nd headrest from @hyhpe (first from @pb4ugo ) , seatbelts from CCOT, new OEM Toyota Washer/Overflow bottle, VCV bracket from @Wot91, Brake/Seatbelt light from @cims1970fj40 , a new Monroe SC2916 steering damper, and, oh yeah, hooked up the drive shafts and drove it for the first time in 5 years!!! :p

The first drive was Mr. Toad's wild ride!!! But after removing the 2nd aftermarket old steering damper that the PO had installed, and the OEM 43 year old damper and installing the new Monroe part, it steered much better. I couldn't hear the engine over the doors rattling, so in true PO form, I temporarily put some peel and stick weather stripping on the doors. It's not pretty, but it did what I needed, I could hear the engine after that. I've got a weird carb issue to work through now, it seems like it's bi-polar, one start it will run and drive like a dream, then the next it won't idle. Probably the idle solenoid getting intermittent ground. But what a weekend!!!

I need to say thank you to everyone posting pics of there spring drives the last couple weeks. It was just the kick start I needed. :) Stayed home from work a couple days this week and got the cruiser up and running for the spring and went up the north shore this saturday. Put 250 miles on. Was a beautiful day.

Added a period correct accessory from a long gone local dealer.
One of the first Toyota Dealers in the country and legend has it, the first dealer to sell a Land Cruiser.

I did the same to mine, I’m the 4th owner of my cruiser, but somehow when I looked into the box of parts I was given for the cruiser, there was the original, metal, dealer license plate holder!!! I painted the worn cooler back and installed it.

About to get a whole lot of beef added to the tired 74’ suspension points.
