Scraped a metric buttload of undercoating today. Last 1/3 of passenger wheelwell left. Though it’s no porter, gratuitous beer shot is from all of rkymtn’s thread inspiration.

Drove it across Houston and back to pick up my VW bus valve covers from Bayou City Coatings. Owner of the powder coat shop had a 40 in high school. We chatted a while. They do beautiful work.

Pre-holiday season planed new product offering :

tooling around with my planned Early First gen. Pull Switch Concept Visionary SEMA inspired type FOG / AUX Ditch Lamps etc ...

side by side comparison with some fresh reatore mid to late 70, hazard and wipe wash to see if I got the whole earlier then those thing down ?

I think is looks like a grandparent with the wider and deeper text font logo in JDM canary yellow ....

period correct pigment tones are a must have or why bother ....



it dawned on me some time ago the current available FOG knob non usa was not available till early to early 1974..ish


so this begs to ask , what the original FOG knob and or Switch was in a Post ROTORY switch era land Cruiser

was it a simple darth Vader type General pull switch like its call for the Darth lamp and a Room Lamp too ?

well ..........

we will see what happens , :idea:


i also have a Late Model 1/79-Later Design intention below , as well ....

ALL Toyota Genuine parts all the time anything else would be passee' :rolleyes:

my 1/79 later Concept final prototype , this one came to be in some late night sput-nick SKUNK WORKS lab moment .......

i never looked back :)

my vision is a Toyota Factory Update if the 40 series was given a mild face lift in 11/84 Globally , and production continued thru the 1980;s at least , Much like the JEEP YJ Wranger platform did , and the outdated toyota fog look one now promoted by Toyota finally saw it's day ?

Beautiful autumn day in central KS... Perfect day to finally replace the rear transfer case and pinion seals. Also replaced the parking brake shoes. And since I had the drive shaft off, went ahead and replaced the u-joints (they were a bugger to press out!). Gave everything a quick shot of paint prior to reinstalling. Topped off the transfer case and rear diff with amsoil 80w-90. Drove like a champ after everything was done... and the best part, no drips so far on the garage floor!!🤞
