The tank in the photo is plastic?

Plastic indeed! The claim, which I believe since it came from Mark, was that the plastic will bend to pressure and not crack like steel. From first look, I might be able to reuse the skid plate from the BTB tank I have now which will add a little extra protection.

I guess @Downey (ebay: thetojoman) isn’t making his fuel cell skid plate anymore...

File this under future "What Have I Done to my Land Cruiser".

Saw a short discussion about auxiliary fuel tanks. The rear tank I purchased from BTB Products has started rusting inside so my fuel is rust colored. Can't be good for the carb or fuel pump. So I decided to take the plunge and contacted Mark at Marks Off-Road and purchased a plastic rear tank from him. Mark sent it out quickly, the price was fair and I am looking forward to installing it in place of the rust bucket and having clean gas going to the carb and engine. Thanks Mark!

File this under an accessory for the Land Cruiser.

I purchased a camping trailer in Dec and once home made a list of things to alter or repair. Tops on the list was a new RTT and when I saw this one discounted by 20% at REI for members, I decided to get it. Free shipping to the store avoiding the $160 heavy freight charge and a further discount from REI next year of an additional 10% refund. Now all I have to do is get the 40 and trailer ready for the Carolina Relic Run in late April. (Was $1099 then reduced to 799 and with additional members discount I paid $561. With the yearly 10% refund it puts the cost down to $505.)

A 83 Chevy Blazer tank fits the same spot and is only $86.

Yeah S-10 Bazer. Sorry for the confusion. Pics attached are from builds on here. Not mine.

Nothing with the rig today, but I have to split a pile of wood soon so I can get my 40 out of the garage. I have about a cord and a half of fir that my daughter was helping me split, she said she likes using a splitting maul!!

A local cowboy cut that tree down today, he said it was in the ballpark of 48” across the bottom!

Helped pay my first year of college by swinging a splitting maul from dark to dark.

It even has a corner knocked off for exhaust clearance... seems like a good option for the price.

I really like Mark’s tank and would buy one if I needed it, and had the $$$. I’ve got an older Man-A-Free tank that I bought for $50ish. It’d been sitting in the corner of someone’s garage for 20+ years. It was rust free inside, and is tough enough that I can likely lift the rear of the 40 with a jack under it... not that I do. Just imagine what I’ll be able to do if I ever put a skid plate under it.

I plan to install a box steel receiver hitch across the rear of the frame... it’ll double as a stronger hitch as well as protecting the tank. Add a flat steel plate across the bottom and instant fuel tank skid plate. The tank only sticks down 2-2.5” so the spare class 3 receiver hitch I’ve got would likely do the job nicely.

Pulled the engine&trans out:

My tent garage is starting to be too small... 😔

Time to add a 2nd ‘room’ onto it. My 40 has essentially been built in a blue room (25’x25’ tarp tied along the edge of the gutter.

Heck I wish. If I had spare cash for something that fancy I’d probably just buy Cruiser parts, or a raft.

If you’d hollowed out that tree rather than splitting it you wouldn’t need a raft. ;)
