Jdc1 did you have your valve cover powder coated, painted? what is the paint code if you don't mind sharing...looks really good.

more pics pls.

Thanks, it’s powder. I’m unsure of what the code is, my dad bought his first land cruiser about 6 years ago and has been maniacally hoarding parts since. This is out of his stash. The OCD in me wants to have it repainted to match our other pewter/silver but this has to be finished and running soon.

It’s truly amazing some things you can still get from Toyota if you ask!

I added the small leaf back into the spring pack and got her leveled back out. Picked up some tires and rims on CL for cheap. Nitto A/T's for street use. I discovered I hate the chrome rims. But the tires ride and drive so nice compared to the worn out K2's. I'll plasidip the rims flat black, I think.

I love it the way it is! Looks like a giant matchbox.

@rkymtnflyfisher lmao. Kinda.. I think it’s the thin plastic type. It’s a previous owner thing. I haven’t messed with it yet. I’m just focusing on getting it running well first. But that is a future fix.

I completely tore down both of my steering wheels and completely cleaned, polished and put di-electric grease on all the contacts. My steering wheel for my 1973 Fj40 is still in excellent shape so it was basically just cleaning up a 46 year old steering wheel that had never been cleaned. I ordered a new OEM horn pad assembly from Japan for the 1981 steering wheel because mine is a little worn on the edges and the horn pad is now discontinued so I am picking one up before they are all gone.

I finally put a leather steering wheel cover on the 1973 and laced it up. I still have to lace up the leather cover on the 1981 steering wheel. I am still stretching the leather on it some so it will form to the wheel better before lacing.

Right now they both look dirty but it is really just smudges from my sweaty paws while working on both of them. They look a lot better than the crappy cell phone pic shows. They will get a final cleaning and wipe down after they are re- installed.

The legendary woobie!

I had no idea what you were talking about. I have never heard of a poncho liner being called that. Don't talk smack about my poncho liner. I have had that liner for 32 years now. It has been all over the world with me. I guess I would have to say it is an old friend and my security blanket because I always sleep like a baby in it. It now resides as a throw blanket on my bed. My brother has had his liner for 35 years. I ended up finding several USGI poncho liners and gave them to all my nieces and nephews because they all loved getting my liner and sleeping with it. Hell even my cat has marked her place on it that is her spot and that is where she sleeps many times. It is probably the one of the overall best pieces of equipment the military ever gave me. It sure has seen the most use.

HA!!!! I still have 3 of them floating around in various packs and gear, they are by far the best piece of gear I ever got from the military!

I had several that were issued to me but over time I was reduced to my one and only original one. My son has one of mine that stays on his bed, my wife has one that she takes with her when she travels and my mom and dad snagged one from me at some point.

As a gift for Christmas one year I had my nephew and my sons name embroidered on their liners in the middle at one end. A little lower down and to one side I had my brother"s name , dates of service and rank embroidered. Then I had all of his unit patches sewn on that he served in below his service info. I did the same thing with all my military info on the other side of liner. It made a pretty cool surprise for them and they have a keepsake that has a personal link to myself and my brother.

That sounds pretty sweet right there! I might have to have one embroidered for myself now!
