Used some of that legendary stump-pulling power

This would seem like a small job but it was surprisingly complex. I finally landed on a tailgate grommet from a Discovery II. This will be the only British part on my Toyota. ; )

There was not a lot of room to work with. The doors are an odd shape near the bottom and the lower glass rail spoils most of the opportunity to drill a hole.

I was able to make it work in the end and I think it’ll work just fine.

Started tearing out my stock manual steering components in preparation for my long awaited (over 20 years!) power steering conversion. :)

My 40 has the same power steering set up. I love it! Of the big three alterations I have done, 4 wheel disc brakes, H55 and power steering, it is the one I believe I like the best. I also changed out the steering wheel to a tilt wheel and new column from Ididit. I regret not buying a column that had the ignition switch.

I love how this is coming along. Keep up the good work. You're like a one man Icon build.

Lighting is my next adventure....what did you use? LED?

LED. Another member posted what worked for them in a lighting thread. I copied that list...

Plugged in block heater prior to the day's festivities. Thermometer says O F, and kinda windy out. Actually one of the warmer days we've had in the last couple weeks, theres been more than a few with minus 40ish wind chill values, brrrrrrr.

Swapped out faulty voltage regulator and sorted out canister style oil filter housing yesterday. Just picking away at odds and ends as time allows.

Found this beauty parked under a tree in the nearest small town here in central Alberta. Previous owner had it for years. It sat for at least 2 without running. Brought a battery with me, added fuel, bled brakes, took the back roads home. Couldn't believe how well it works, still can't. Goes, stops, winches, the whole 9 yards. I can't remember the last time I was that excited just to be driving a vehicle. I've been into mini trucks for years, got myself a diesel 80 couple years back for a dd, but this is my first experience with a 40. Thing is magic, makes me feel like a kid again. I beleive its a '67, Canadian market, F engine, 3 speed, PTO winch, dual tanks. Tire chains were included. Plans are mechanical restoration as required to make it reliable. Not going to mess with a good thing. Cheers!

Working on finishing my oem soft doors....slowly. Being so damn cold doesn't help with anything, contact cement, weatherstripping, canvas, etc.

Passenger side door is essentlially done minus the handle. It needs paint so who knows when it will be warm enough.

SOR weatherstripping and canvas, Genesis OffRoad wing window rubber and replacement plexiglass.

SOR weatherstripping is really nice; however, it's just one long piece so it requires cutting and glueing for the top two corners.

The inside window felt for the soft doors is long been disco'd but the hard door felt is still available and not too expensive. Two of the four push clips line up but the other two don't and it's too long. Easy fix though, just cut ~2" off one end, remove two of the clips, make two new holes where needed, reinsert clips and you're done! I'll take pics of the drivers side door when I make it.

Also, the window runs are supposed to have rubber bumpers at the bottom, but mine were long gone. Subbed some small grommets which worked great. The SOR felt runs suck (or my cement'ing did). I'm going to try some felt tape on the drivers side.

Slowly collecting some hard to find stuff for the next project.

Next up: patiently waiting for a 40 series top cover for the H55f to pop up that isn’t the price of my first born.

I remember that post ! Glad it worked out for you.

Haha once we got a spark she fired up right away. Ran her for a few minutes just until the head was warm to the touch. I actually have a video here ill try and upload. Measured compression all cylinders 125 with one slightly lower at 110. Hoping after we run it for a while compression increases slightly.
