I adopted a new golden cruiser buddy from Turkey. Watching them get acquainted, about to go finish getting my doors and hood ready for paint.

This morning, daBoise and I started out to the Wildlife Refuge, for a few days of hiking and chilling and stargazing and telling ghost stories...

There's a long incline on US95, as you head north out of Vegas... By the time I reached the 'summit', 44 was getting quite hot.

Remember, I recently removed my heaters and looped the heater loop, from my burping cap to the lower rad hose 'y'. I burped it then and again, when I drove out 95, the day before surgery.

So, today, I thought it was odd, but went to burp it again... There was coolant all over the engine compartment, but looked like it came from the overflow... No obvious leak...

Until I started to unscrew this brass cap... Then it became obvious there was a pinhole in it... It started shooting coolant about 15'.

I mulled it over and decided to try cinching the heater loop as tightly as I could, using a screw clamp... And inserted a piece of gasket material into the brass cap and screwed it back on, over the middle (appropriate) finger off a latex glove.

I made it back home (15 miles) without overheating.

After the engine/coolant cooled down, I removed the tourniquet, replaced the cap, topped off the coolant, burped the baby and we kids will try to take our first post-surgery outing at first light tomorrow.

Oh, I also added 4' of hose and two splice connectors, barbed on both ends, to my spare parts... And will carry two gallons on coolant concentrate... Just in case... I dint want to abort our takeoff again

Got the drums brakes almost done on the 45LV, just need to finish bleading today. really glad I got new brake tubes, no way we would have been able to use the originals.

Got the tiny bfg,s remounted on some new OEM wheels, got clips bent so the new acorn caps will fit.

Jared under the 45lpb realizing the right rear wheel cylinders were installed backward at some point...will get that next week

Trying to find a clunk under jareds 77....think it's a rear motor mount.

The 77 was the newest rig in the shop, the sweet 77 ford f250 is Jason's (jared's dad's, whIch his dad bought new) also a mercury his dad is building

My job today is to get the 45LV wipers working, think I got it figured out.....and will get the wiper witch (yes in the fsm that is what they call it) sorted out.

I have been trying to install a volt gauge. The first one I got it installed but I must have shorted it out. The gauge itself isn't very much money so I bought a new one. I took everything back apart and was more careful with it. I also painted all the needles to freshen them up. The gauge works! I installed brighter gauge lighting a while ago and have been loving it. This is on its lowest setting. If I turn it up to high its like looking at a arc welder in action lol. I wanted bright gauge lights because I was tired of driving across long stretches of road late at night in the middle of nowhere in a 40 year old rig with a tiny gloomy amount of light on the dash. Now with the LED headlights and these dash lights, its like driving a 747 coming in for landing haha

@White Stripe is that a factory volt meter?
Thanks
No. It's a standard 2" volt gauge. I took it apart threw away the bezel it was encased in, drilled new holes in the back of my cluster and mounted the 2" gauge. I also took some plastic sheet, painted it black, cut it up, nd glued it to the back of the 2" face to extend the background. With the glass on, you can barely tell it's actually a modified round gauge. I probably should have done a writeup so others could do ita little easier as it was tough the first time. I also blacked out some of the scale on the gauge so it looks more factory. If u look a few posts back in this thread, you will see my first attempt.

I need to finish the same. I picked up a Faria voltmeter and just need to make the mask. It's numbers look more like OEM.

Ya I got this gauge working and it doesn't read correctly. It says its charging 16 volts which freaked me out. Turns out actual is 14.3. So I ordered a higher quality gauge. I ordered a Faria gauge also this time around.

Now that I have a boss that doesn't flip about for bringing my 40 in the dealership, I decided to see the clearances of various suspension components of my sua setup when flexed. Seems to be working well. I also went to a relatives shop and installed a volt gauge. The face isn't pressed on yet. Some of the needle paint fell off when mocking it up. I have more paint at work. So I'll bend the tabs over then.View attachment 1340867 View attachment 1340868
. Do you have any threads on your spring under setup? That's impressive!
