I just passed through yer neck of the woods on my way to Montana. Was thinking about you all through TN. Very cool to see you putting this thing to use as intended! I bet your kid loves it!
You have a good sense of humor.. It might take time to sell but hopefully it will go to a new home.
I hope the new owner will preserve the Patina but I wished it didnt have the second gas tank and few dents..
This beautiful girl is worth to...
Hit the yard to grab some lumber for the cabin project.
On a tech note, I love the ability to haul stuff with the tailgate up. Can't really do this in my '76 with the amby doors.
I took the 40 out today and inadvertently met two other FJ40 owners. One was at an estate sale and the other was at our local brewery, Paradox, here in Divide.
Went cruising in the back woods afterwards.
Made another beach trip with the 40.
Also, my son's girlfriend sent some awesome 40 artwork.
And in the spirit of MUD, our kids and friends ended up in the marsh.
Made it back home, horrible crunching/squealing noise from the left front wheel/axle on the last 500 miles or so home. Head gasket sealer blew out a bit and started leaking oil/coolant onto the headers, which made for an absolutely fantastic...
My buddy's at the local glass shop cut a new back window for the LC. Now I have it closed in, I'll get to work on the exterior. Body is actually in really sound shape. Probably 90% sound, minimal rust in the usual spots. Underneath is good still...
PO: "Babe. You know what I'm going to do this weekend? Gonna install square headlights in our 40."
Babe: "What time did you start drinking today? This idea is worse than your spinner wheel phase."
PO: "You never support me and you don't...
Ok, here is an update. Got a front driveshaft from an 81 (81-83 will work) FJ60 for $100 and had it shortened a little bit. Put it on there and no vibration. Very happy with it now.
I've lost multiple oil caps over the years, I drove off the other day and forgot to put the fuel cap back on and close the fuel door.
This pic was taken a quarter mile down the trail after filling up.
Lucky for me the fuel cap was sitting on the...
When I sold my spring green 71, a non-paying winner was a big concern of mine. BAT doesn’t care because they have the bidders credit card and keep their 5% regardless. Payment is handled between buyer and seller. I asked BAT what happens if I...
IMOP that is pig prices from many years back , not 2022 prices. Like @FJBen said its a deal if not rotted and runs and stops, extra bonus points you can fix the rust.
Not going to say a fj55 is rare, but its rare. Especially at that price. Enjoy!
What’s $3500 for a car project anymore? Buy it and pull the chute in a few months if you feal like you are in too deep! I’d skip posting about it and grab it honestly at that price before you get snaked. That’s cheap!
I don't think you could go wrong at $3500. Looks like it's all complete except for the bumpers. Not sure about the interior. No way it's 40k original if he rebuilt the top end 20k ago. Unless maybe it was put in a barn wet and dirty at 20K...
1 hand on the wheel on the freeway. Around 80 it feels like I’m pushing the old F engine but cruises 70 with ease and no darting. Manual brakes with only front discs and it’ll put you through the window from any speed.
I know, I need to pretty...
Thanks for the reply @Elfman I may take you up on the kind offer.
Trying to wrap my head around what to fab and what to use from both seats to do what I want.
I have Miata seats in my 69. Had to fab up a mounting solution. Let me know if you need any input for that, though I believe our base mounts will not be the same. Still, willing to help with photos, measurements or anything of that nature. Have a...
Bump for any easier ideas than to fab up mounts? These seats are getting put in one way or another.
Thanks to @bikersmurf and @archie73 on their input so far.
Still curious about a universal seat bracket mount kit that would fit this...
@RWBeringer4x4 ….. “Also ironically - FJ Cruiser people unilaterally have no idea what my truck is or care to find out. Same with 99% of 100/200 series owners and 60% of 80-series owners. 40 and 60 drivers usually know what’s up”...
