Woah woah, I thought those tires weren't available in a 315?

They aren't listed on the Cooper website, but they are definitely available. My friend bought some for his Hilux Surf and showed me the sizing options available at the local installer.

started last weekend, finished today...1,000 mile round trip to the Outer Banks!! The 80 never missed a beat the whole trip, used a lot of gas, but never missed a beat.

That's what they're best at! Sounds like a nice way to wrap up the summer.

Finally got around to installing my Craft Customs reskinned steering wheel and did some "while you're in there" stuff:

1) The recovered steering wheel (of course): https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/another-satisfied-craft-customs-customer.810985/
2) Steering Wheel Harmonic Balancer Mod: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/steering-wheel-harmonic-balancer-mod.816683/
3) Replaced all the shift indicator bulbs in the gauge cluster. What's up? Fully functioning D light, that's what's up!

4) Fixed a "floppy" air vent (the one right to the right of the gauge cluster). It would stay in position, but just barely. It turned out that one of the little nubs on each side of the vent that the unit rotates on had broken. Luckily, it was still there, and with a little superglue to mend it back into place, the vent is now operating like brand new.
5) Fixed a small amount of "vertical slop" related to the tilt mechanism thanks to this thread: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/tilt-steering-column-vertical-slop.715460/ After this fix, the wheel is now unbelievably "solid" with no movement whatsoever. Absolutely feels like night and day driving down the road, especially on roads with bumps and pot holes.
6) Learned all about how to reset the airbag light after disconnecting the airbag to do the steering wheel job: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/airbag-light.604549/

What was your method of doing this, I'd like to do it myself on the hoodl.

Me too, I've heard that a skilled shop can buff it out, also that new paint is the only way. I'm tired of waiting for acid wash trucks to be in style

Unfortunately the solution was to strip the clear from the hood. Sand and repaint. It had gotten bad so not sure there was another solution.

After weeks of inactivity/no mods or PMs this got me to fix my slop in steering colum. Now my steering column feels like new and tighter than a virgin sphincter! Thanks for the link!

Amazingly, tomorrow I got more mod and PM planned.

I've been having to crank the motor for about 10secs to get it started, so per a recommendation I cleaned the cold start injector on my 3FE. I think it was a little past due. Problem solved now.

Took my little brother to the cabin. Cruised a bunch of old mine and logging roads. The big event - taught the kid to drive. His first time ever driving was in an 80 series in 4Lo crawling up a trail. Had a few close calls almost tagging trees when wasn't turning the wheel enough but we made it without any damage! And... the gas/brake only using 1 foot was confusing to him.

actually, when wheeling, left-foot braking comes in handy
