Replaced all four transmission (A442F) solenoids with help from @6th Gear 's excellent video here:
She now shifts flawlessly and I gained some power back as well.
For background, truck started intermittently not wanting to downshift to low at idle several months ago. As time went by it stopped shifting automatically at all, but would shift great manually and no other issues I could observe. No codes, OD light worked, ECT worked, no codes. Everything I read here and elsewhere suggested solenoids, but I started the TS process by changing the fluid and checking/cleaning all external contacts. No love.
Thanks to a suggestion here on MUD, I ordered the Isuzu part numbers (same OEM Aisin solenoids but cheaper than Mr. T parts). Paid $177 all in for all four shipped. Also got Aisin OEM grade FIPG from Amazon.
The day after I ordered the solenoids, the truck finally threw a transmission code (code 62, pointing to #1 shift solenoid).
The job was not "complicated," but it was messy, time consuming, and challenging, mostly due to the accessibility of three of the 20 10mm bolts that hold the pan on. Took about 6 hours with at least an hour of that fighting with those three bolts, both on and off. And some down time waiting for the fluid to completely drain (beer break).
