Gave the 92 a little love. Added the Blue Sea USB outlet.

Replaced upper and lower radiator hoses. The upper had a cracked causing a leak (AC Delco NOT OEM). Broke the drain cock whilst re-installing it (and loosing the o-ring) causing constant drip from the drain. Thus had to take a trip to AutoZone and get some Bar's Liquid Copper to plug up the leak.

2 days later, temp is consistent. No drips. Fluid levels normal. Had to do this job over the weekend so that the rig wasn't stranded. Only regret is that I didn't buy new hose clamps and do the PHH at the same time. But since the radiator is kinda FUBAR.... will probably be replacing that in the near future.

I threw one in a couple weeks ago but haven't wired it up. What did you tie it into?

I ran t all the way to the battery and ran a 15 amp in line fuse on the positive wire. I wanted it to be always hot like on my 93. Otherwise you could probably splice in to the wiring for the cig lighter. I like them being independent of each other so I always have charging.

Why?
It's not like it will go any faster...

No rush for me. I also don't understand why anyone in LA would need a fast car. You are going to sit in traffic anyway!

Have you seen the tire marks between two stop lights?
That's why!
Bragging right Bro.
Or the same reason people living in the Hills of Beverly need SUV's.
Learn your geography Bro.

I almost tied mine into the cig lighter but decided against it. I'll follow your lead and go straight to the battery. :smokin:

It's really nice to have it wired directly so that you don't need the key in to charge things like bluetooth or phone while parked.

Nice! Did you have to mod/trim anything to get it to fit? What Warn model did you go with?

It's the VR10000 with synthetic rope. No mods, bolted right in. The solenoid box was relocated to the center of the winch with the bracket from slee. I wanted to use the 10k Warn Zeon off my FJ40 but I would have had to mod the truck/bumper so I opted for the VR series. Now I need to get my Factor 55 shackle mount ordered to finish it off.

guess you made a new circuit for it . ? which it's the wire gauge required .?

I ran 12ga wire with a 15amp inline fuse. I'm guessing that should be more than plenty. I think 16 ga would be sufficient.

Passed my Ham Technician License test saturday and went wheeling on Middle St Vrain and Coney flats sunday with the girlfriend, dog and a few friends.... still don't know really how this happened on the tacoma that was with us. Started up the over a little ledge and the next thing you know it was gone. Still a fun day though and the 80 was fantastic as usual.

I can tell you exactly how that happened to the Tacoma driveshaft. He clearly hit the shaft tube on that rock. It doesn't take much to collapse a tube with a hit like that. Think of a soda can. You can apply straight downward force on the can and it will support a bit of weight but as soon as you push on one of the sides, it collapses. Driveshafts do the same thing.

Cool pics though.

Do you have a link to that one? All I found were the larger ones. Thanks!

They aren't cheap but they are worth it. I put one in my 93 back in June. Have had this one sitting, waiting to go in my 92 for a month. It takes 15-20 min to install.

You need a file to shave down the opening a hair in the dash. That is about as difficult as it gets. Order inline fuse holder while you are at it and waterproof ring terminal connections. Good to have around.

I keep a few of the inline fuse holders laying around for when I decide to do something like this.

Put the fuse holder as close to the battery terminal as feasible. Heat shrink butt connector to the 12 ga positive wire. You can possibly just put the heat shrink ring terminal on the inline fuse holder. Run your wires up along the cowl and down through the rubber grommet on the fire wall on the driver side. If you don't have anything running through that grommet you'll have to poke a hole and feed your wires through it. It comes in to the cabin above the brake pedal. May have to move the insulation on the fire wall to see it. Then feed your wires behind the dash, below the steering column. There are two screws below the ignition. Take those out and lightly pull the bottom of the dash out. Stick your fingers behind the dash and pop the blank plate out. File down the bottom of the opening (you'll see a little lip). Test fit your USB plug until you get it shaved just enough to be a tight fit. Feed your wires through and plug them in to the back of the plug. Voila you have USB.

Shout out to @LandCruiserPhil for finding this plug and doing the write up on it originally. I took this from him.

And I originally purchased the cheapo $12 plugs. They are crap. Spend the money and get the Blue Sea plug. It's worth it.

Ordered my HAM yesterday on amazon and it showed up today! I know NOTHING about it but I know how to use the FM radio! :hillbilly:

It's pretty cool. I take my technician test on the 17th!
