Pulled the axles out and attempted to sand blast them. I got through 2/3rds of the rear all day. I gave up, my poor compressor just doesn't have the cfm to keep up at 80 psi. Going to take them and everything else i was going to blast to a pro, not having the continued headache is worth the $. Afterwards they are getting POR15 and Top coated. I now also have all the parts now to rebuild both axles and brakes completely save the diff bearings.

Invested in my cruiser's future for its 200k anniversary by procuring the rarest of rarities in these parts: a legit garage!
(with matching moonglow garbage bins as a bonus)

looks like about 3" clearance. Do you just keep driving until you hit the wall?

They aren't cheap but they are worth it. I put one in my 93 back in June. Have had this one sitting, waiting to go in my 92 for a month. It takes 15-20 min to install.

You need a file to shave down the opening a hair in the dash. That is about as difficult as it gets. Order inline fuse holder while you are at it and waterproof ring terminal connections. Good to have around.

I keep a few of the inline fuse holders laying around for when I decide to do something like this.

Put the fuse holder as close to the battery terminal as feasible. Heat shrink butt connector to the 12 ga positive wire. You can possibly just put the heat shrink ring terminal on the inline fuse holder. Run your wires up along the cowl and down through the rubber grommet on the fire wall on the driver side. If you don't have anything running through that grommet you'll have to poke a hole and feed your wires through it. It comes in to the cabin above the brake pedal. May have to move the insulation on the fire wall to see it. Then feed your wires behind the dash, below the steering column. There are two screws below the ignition. Take those out and lightly pull the bottom of the dash out. Stick your fingers behind the dash and pop the blank plate out. File down the bottom of the opening (you'll see a little lip). Test fit your USB plug until you get it shaved just enough to be a tight fit. Feed your wires through and plug them in to the back of the plug. Voila you have USB.

Shout out to @LandCruiserPhil for finding this plug and doing the write up on it originally. I took this from him.

And I originally purchased the cheapo $12 plugs. They are crap. Spend the money and get the Blue Sea plug. It's worth it.

Another project for the list! I have an extra inline fuse and ran my amp power wire through that same grommet this weekend so that should be be pretty easy. I am going to put one in the middle row and cargo area too and just use the amp power wire since I will be putting a distribution block for another amp anyway.

I can tell you exactly how that happened to the Tacoma driveshaft. He clearly hit the shaft tube on that rock. It doesn't take much to collapse a tube with a hit like that. Think of a soda can. You can apply straight downward force on the can and it will support a bit of weight but as soon as you push on one of the sides, it collapses. Driveshafts do the same thing.

Cool pics though.

Lol yes thank you for the observation! it obviously hit the rock... It just happened so fast is all, I didn't think it would just shear in half as fast as it did. He got a bad spot from the spotter and that was that.

I'll find the pic of my Chevy work truck in my garage when I lived in Tejas. It wouldn't fit so I cut the 2x6 wall studs and put in a header and made an opening for the front bumper so it would fit. It was pretty comical.

What else did I do with my 80 this weekend????

I ran outside and showed my 80 this pic that @reevesci sent me of my 80 tailgate storage, polished and looking good!!

The blackhole is excited for more storage and I'm excited to get my hands on it!

Did a little off-roading and a lot of shooting with a few buddies. Weather was great and bbq'd some hamburgers. The SKS kicks a$$.

Ok so technically that was the weekend but not my 80. However not much done on the 80 here. Parked it in the yard and invited the local olde north state cruiser members over for company and some bbq.

Pulled the shortblock, polished the front oil cover seal surface, and reinstalled in the living room :grinpimp::grinpimp::grinpimp:
...where the world's heaviest coffee table promptly fell through the floor. :hillbilly:

Upgrading to a NA-771 antenna is a excellent <$5 investment
Ordered my HAM yesterday on amazon and it showed up today! I know NOTHING about it but I know how to use the FM radio! :hillbilly:

It's pretty cool. I take my technician test on the 17th!

Not to worry 90%+ of all off roaders with licensed HAMs only use and know how to use one channel.

Upgrading to a NA-771 antenna is a excellent <$5 investment for the handheld

39 miles with the original antenna is not good enough?
I've been using my UV5R before this just to listen in for trail runs for awhile now ;) and those that transmit with the original antenna come through very distorted when they are inside a rig
